A field experiment was conducted with maize-groundnut cropping sequence. Rock phosphate and its combination with SSP were used as nutrient sources during Rabi 2016- 17 (maize taken up in Kharif 2016). The study was carried out in the Central Farm, OUAT with the help of a field experiment laid out in Randomized Block Design with seven treatment T1 Control, T2 100% P(RP),T3 100% P(SSP), T4 75% P(RP) + 25% P(SSP), T5 50% P(RP) + 50% P(SSP), T6 25% P(RP) + 75% P(SSP) and T7 100% P(SSP) + Lime @ 0.2 LR and replicated in thrice.

A field experiment was conducted during kharif season of 2017 on loamy sand soil to study the Effect of Fertility Levels and Stress Mitigating Chemicals on productivity of Mungbean [Vigna radiata (L.) Wilczek]. The experiment consisted of four fertility levels [control (F0), 50% RDF (F1), 75% RDF (F2), 100% RDF (F3) ] and four stress mitigating chemicals [control (S0), SA @ 75 ppm at flower initiation and 7 days after first spray (S1), SA@75 ppm + 2% Urea at flower initiation (S2) and Thiourea @ 500 ppm (S3)].

Soils of Bino-river watershed in Almora district of Uttarakhand, India in north western Himalayas were characterised and classified for land categorisation and perspective land use planning. On the basis of interpretation of remote sensing data and ground truth verification three broad landforms viz., ridge tops, side slopes and valleys were identified and further sub-divided into seven landform units based on slope gradients. Nine types of soils (Pedons 1 to 9) were identified in the watershed area.

Herbicides with 2,4-dichlorophenoxyacetic acid (2,4D) has been commonly used to control weeds and widely detected in environments. In this study, biodegradating activity of Pseudomonas fluorescens HH on 2,4D and 4-chlorophenol (4CP) in soil was carried out. The inoculation with Pseudomonas fluorescens HH in soils increased the degradation of 4CP and 2,4D by from 47.0% to 51.4% and from 38.4% to 47.4%, respectively, compared to the degradation by autochthonous microorganisms.

The young alluvial soils show little profile development although they are sometimes stratified. With the exception of about 800 ha of sand to loamy sand soils in one area, textures vary from sandy loam to uniform clay, with the finer textures tending to occur toward the mangrove and in the flood-prone area between the Meme and Mokoko Rivers. Although there is evidence of flooding and seasonal waterlogging from several other rivers that traverse the plain, these soils rarely show evidence of strongly reducing conditions within 1.5 m of the surface.
