In this report, SYGO:Eu3+ red phosphor have been successfully synthesized by sol-gel method. The X-ray diffraction results show that the sample has a cubic crystal structure, belonging to the space group Ia3d (230) without any doping. Scanning electron microscopy (FE-SEM) combined with EDS was performed to determine the microstructure and elemental composition of the fabricated phosphor.

Ebook "Highly luminescent lanthanide complexes with specific coordination structures" deals with strongly luminescent lanthanide complexes having novel coordination structures. Luminescent lanthanide complexes are promising candidates as active materials for EL devices, lasers, and bio-sensing applications. The organic ligands in lanthanide complexes control geometrical and vibrational frequency structures that are closely related to the luminescent properties.

Ebook "Luminescent and photoactive transition metal complexes as biomolecular probes and cellular reagents" starts with a chapter contributed by Professor Alexis D. Ostrowski and Professor Peter C. Ford on the photochemical delivery of the gastrotransmitters nitric oxide and carbon monoxide. The emphasis is on the molecular design and photochemical properties of transition metal complexes that serve as photoactivated nitric oxide releasing moieties (NORMs) and carbon monoxide releasing moieties (CORMs).

Ebook "Metal-organic frameworks for photonics applications" is to give the reader, whether at a university or in industry, a comprehensive overview of an area where new insights are emerging that are of interest to a larger scientific audience. Thus each review within the volume critically surveys one aspect of that topic and places it within the context of the volume as a whole. The most significant developments of the last 5 to 10 years should be presented using selected examples to illustrate the principles discussed.

The thermal activation energy of 0.31 eV obtained for Ca0.88Gd0.05TiO3:0.07Eu3+ suggested an appreciable stability against thermal quenching due to the cross-over process. The color parameters, luminescence lifetime, JuddeOfelt parameters and radiative properties have been fairly discussed.

The photometric characterization has revealed the excellent color chromaticity coordinates and the correlated color temperature levels. They are on the same level of commercial phosphors and quite useful for green WLEDs, solid state displays and forensic applications as well.

Highly crystalline ZnO nanoparticles were synthesized using a co-precipitation method. The morphology and optical properties of these nanoparticles are found to be highly sensitive to the growth parameters such as the concentration of reducing agent and annealing temperature.

Optically stimulated luminescence (OSL) signals from individual quartz grains are frequently used for equivalent dose and age determination in luminescence dating. Typically, signals from individual grains are stimulated with a focussed solid-state laser and detected via a photomultiplier tube. In contrast to the light-emitting diodes (LEDs) usually used when stimulating multiple-grain aliquots, the laser has a much higher stimulation power density.

Quantitative constraints on the timing and temperatures associated with Quaternary fault slip inform earthquake mechanics and seismic hazard analyses. Optically stimulated luminesce (OSL) and thermoluminescence (TL) are tools that can provide these constraints from fault gouge and localized slip surfaces.

In 1 the Zn 2+ cation is tetracoordinated with 2 nitrogen atoms from 2 imidazoles and 2 oxygen atoms from the 2 carboxyl groups in 5-chlorhydroxybenzoate. In 2 the coordination polyhedrons of Cu 2+ center can be described as distorted square pyramidal geometry sharing common edges, with an oxygen atom on the top of the pyramid. The hydrogen bonds and π − π interactions between the 2 ligands contribute to the presence of the infinite one-dimensional chain in the structure.

In the present paper, various fluxes assisted Eu3þ doped SrTiO3 nanophosphors were prepared via a solution combustion route. Among all fluxes, NH4F was found to be an appropriate one, which can reduce the forming temperature, improve morphology and enhance the luminescence intensity by two-fold to that of without added flux.

ZnO:Ni powders are prepared by forced hydrolysis method. The samples were investigated by using XRD, SEM and photoluminescence (PL) spectra. The intensity of near band gap photoluminescence as a function of doping concentration and temperature was studied. The researching results show the doping concentration of Ni strongly affected the luminescence in the UV spectral region and reveal application potential of ZnO:Ni material in optoelectronic and magneto-optical devices of UV range.

The excitation spectrum exhibited broadband emission between 260 and 550 nm with three peaks dominating at 320 nm due to the transition of 4 A2 4 T1 . The emission spectra between 600 to 720 nm displays an overwhelming emission peak at 654 nm owing to the 2 E4 A2 transition of Mn4+ ion.

In the present work, a green emitting composite with attractive photoluminescent properties was obtained through the embedding of the Tb3+ complex with N-hydroxyphthalimide in a poly-(N-vinyl-pyrrolidone) matrix, which was further processed in thin or thick films. First, several complexes of Gd3+, Tb3+, and Y3+ with N-hydroxyphthalimide with the general formula [M(NHF)3(DMF)2] were prepared at a 1:3 metal/ligand ratio. The Tb3+ complex presents specific emission peaks, with the most intense peak located at 543 nm, thus being selected for incorporation in the poly(N-vinyl-pyrrolidone) matrix.

The synthesis, structure, and luminescent properties of a samarium(III) complex (A2) containing benzoyltrifluoroacetone (HTFPB) and 1,2-bis[(anthracen-9-ylmethyl)amino]ethane (BAAE2) ligands are herein reported. The structure of A2 has been elucidated by infrared spectroscopy and single crystal X-ray diffraction. X-ray crystallographic analysis demonstrated that A2 has a mononuclear structure with a formula of Sm(TFPB)3 (BAAE2) in which Sm3+ ion is coordinated to six O-atoms from three TFPB ligands and two N-atoms from one ancillary ligand (BAAE2).

Dy3+ doped lithium-sodium aluminoborate glass (60-x) B2O3-10Al2O3-15Na2O-15Li2O-xDy2O3 (ABLN: Dy3+) are prepared by the conventional melting procedure. Optical absorption and luminescence spectra have been measured at room temperature. Using the Judd - Ofelt (JO) theory, the intensity parameters Ωλ (λ = 2,4,6) have been evaluated for ABLN: Dy3+ glass. These intensity parameters are used to predict radiative properties that include electric (Sed) magnetic (Smd) dipole line strength, radiative transition probabilities (AR), lifetime (τR), branching ratios (βR) for the excited levels of Dy3+.
