The role of complex surface defect on the magnet at the (110) surface of bismuth sodium titanate (Bi0.5Na0.5TiO3) was discussed based on the first-principles calculation. The first-principle calculations for various types of surface defects exhibited the existence of magnetic moments for selected chemical and position defects.

The signature of the magnetic competition in a nearly filled impurity band diluted magnetic semiconductors is addressed. In the formalism of the Kondo lattice model, selfconsistent equations determining the Green function of the itinerant carrier in the system are evaluated by use of the dynamical mean-field theory.

The structures of the compounds were elucidated from the elemental analysis data and spectroscopic studies. The azo-oxime metal complexes were also characterized by XRD, magnetic moment, molar conductivity, and thermal analyses. Elemental analyses of the chelates suggested that the metal to ligand ratio was 1:2. It was found that the ligand acts as a bidentate bending through the phenolic oxygen and nitrogen atom of the C=N-OH group similar to most oximes.

The Co(II), Fe(II), and Zn(II) complexes of 1-(3-phenyl)propylbenzimidazole (PPBI), 5-nitro-1-(3-phenyl) propylbenzimidazole (PPNBI), 1-[2-(4-morpholinyl)ethyl]benzimidazole (MEBI), 1-[2-(1-piperidinyl)ethyl]benzimidazole (PEBI), and 5-nitro-1-[2-(1-piperidinyl)ethyl]benzimidazole (PENBI) were synthesized and characterized by 1H NMR, 13C NMR, and elemental analyses. The magnitudes of the magnetic moments for paramagnetic complexes were between 4.07 and 5.11 B.M.

This paper show that the recent experimental value of the anomalous magnetic moment (AMM) of the charged lepton µ, denoted as aµ ≡ (g−2)µ /2, can be explained successfully in a 3-3-1 model with right handed neutrinos adding new heavy SU(3)L neutrino singlets. Allowed regions satisfying the recent AMM data are illustrated numerically.

The observation of ferromagnetism in CeCo3B2 with a high Curie temperature TC = 140 K and a magnetic moment 8 × 10−3 µB /F.U has been presented and explained by 4f itinerant magnetism with strong 4f-4f direct exchange interaction. The observed small magnetic moment can be understood by a cancellation of 4f orbital and spin contributions and of 5d polarized contribution to magnetic moment.

Interests in Cu-Cr sub-nanometer systems have been increasing due to the recentlyfound icosahedral Cu12Cr cluster as a superatomic molecule, where the 3d-Cr and 4s-Cu electrons can phenomenologically form the 18-e molecular shell (1S2 1P6 1D10) of Cu12Cr. In this report, we set out to investigate the energetically-preferred geometries and stabilities of CunCr (n = 9÷11) clusters using the density-functional-theory calculations.

Typical quantities of the electronic structure and spin-transition of this molecule such as the atomic charge, the magnetic moment of Fe ion, the HOMO-LUMO gap, and the spin-state energy difference are varied as a function of dielectric constant of solvents. They reach saturation values with increasing dielectric constant. These results should give some hints to control spin transition temperature of spin-crossover molecules.

We investigate the effect of PbTiO3 on the LaAlO3/SrTiO3 hetero-structure by density functional theory, where the asymmetry sandwich not only forms a quasi-two dimensional electron gas but also reveals a ferromagnetic state in the TiO2 interfaces. It is found out that magnetic moments of TiO2 interface layers are around 0.18 µB while they are mostly negligible in the pure LaAlO3/SrTiO3 system.

We investigate in detail one−loop contribution of new particles to the muon anomalous magnetic moment (g − 2)µ in the framework of the economical 3-3-1 model. The main contributions to the anomalous magnetic moment come from new neutral gauge boson Z0 , bilepton singly charged vector boson Y ±. The contributions of new neutral/charged scalars are small and can be neglected. The result is extended to other versions of 3-3-1 models. Comparing the anomalous magnetic moment value in this model with experimental value we set the extension requirement for the model.
