A modification of magnetic-based solvent-assisted dispersive solid-phase extraction (M-SA-DSPE) has been employed for the determination of the biomarkers cortisol and cortisone in saliva samples. M-SADSPE is based on the dispersion of the sorbent material by using a disperser solvent like in dispersive solid phase extraction (SA-DSPE) but a magnetic sorbent is used like in magnetic dispersive solid-phase extraction (M-DSPE).

Magnetic nanoparticles of Fe3O4 coated with polyaniline have been synthesised through chemical coprecipitation, and successfully characterised using different techniques such as FT-IR and X-ray diffraction. Such nanocomposite was applied as sorbent for a new magnetic micro-dispersive solid phase extraction procedure for the extraction of seven plastic migrants in jelly samples.

The spectroscopic studies reveal that the GO–Fe 3 O4 nanocomposite is a highly efficient adsorbent for MB removal from aqueous solution, providing an adsorption capacity of 172.6 mg/g, and the equilibrium for MB adsorption is attained in ∼70 min. Moreover, it is a magnetically separable and reusable material for MB removal from water, preserving 87% of its initial efficiency after 5 successive runs.

A magnetic Fe3O4 @ montmorillonite composite was prepared and used for the separation of lead and cadmium from aqueous solutions. For this purpose, magnetite (Fe3O4) was generated by co-precipitation of FeSO4 and FeCl3 onto montmorillonite. The effects of various experimental parameters such as pH of the solution, amount of sorbent, initial concentration of analytes, and contact time on the sorption efficiencies of lead and cadmium ions were investigated and optimized by applying a batch technique.

A method for preconcentration of Al(III) prior to its determination by inductively coupled plasma-optical emission spectrometry (ICP-OES) was developed because the sensitivity of ICP-OES is insufficient for trace-level measurement of Al(III). The method is based on the use of Coriolus versicolor-immobilized γ-Fe2O3 magnetic nanoparticles as a solid phase sorbent. The best experimental conditions were found as pH 6.0, 2.0 mL/min flow rate, 100 mg amount of C. versicolor on 150 mg of γ-Fe2O3 nanoparticles, and 500 mL of sample volume. In this study, we report a simple and economic one-pot synthesis of magnetite (Fe3O4) nanostructure and its modification with tetraethyl orthosilicate by coprecipitation method. The synthesized (Fe3O4@SiO2 ) nano sorbent was applied for enhanced adsorptive removal of methylene blue by ultrasonic wave driven batch experiments. After successful synthesis, the nanostructure was characterized for their physical structure by FT-IR, VSM, TEM, and XRD. For the maximum adsorptive performance of nano sorbent, various parameters were optimized, such as dose, pH, time, concentration, and temperature.
