Preterm premature rupture of membranes is defined as rupture of membranes before the onset of labor with the gestational age < 37 weeks. Preterm premature rupture of membranes is associated with 10% of the perinatal mortality, particularly associated with respiratory distress syndrome and neonatal infection. The study aims to assess the outcome of maternal and fetal outcome in preterm premature rupture of membranes.

Acute foetal distress (AFD) is a life-threatening foetal condition complicating 2% of all pregnancies and accounting for 8.9% of caesarean sections (CS) especially in developing nations. Despite the severity of the problem, no evidence exists as to the safest anaesthetic technique for the mother and foetus couple undergoing CS for AFD.

Social skills might play an important role for the relationship between maternal psychological distress and subsequent development of depressive symptoms. The majority perspective is that social skills is adaptive and protective, but there is a need to also highlight the potential maladaptive effect of social skills in some settings or for some sub groups.

The demands of daily life often cause mothers high levels of distress and other negative emotions. Anger, including harsh verbal discipline, has been linked to child maltreatment, with long-term adverse effects on a child’s well-being. It is critically important to teach mothers stress management and emotion regulation in addition to parenting skills, but this is yet to be conducted in a formalized manner.

Gaynes et al. (109) did a meta-analysis of screening instruments (i.e., EPDS, Beck Depression Inventory (BDI), Postpartum Depression Screening Scale (PDSS), and the Center for Epidemiological Studies Depression Scale (CES-D)) for depression and concluded that, "various screening instruments can identify perinatal depression". They concluded that these instruments have high specificity and low sensitivity for depressive states, and this acquires a greater importance when deciding on whether false-positives or false-negatives are preferred.

For this reason, levels of mental distress among communities need to be understood less in terms of individual pathology and more as a response to relative deprivation and social injustice, which erode the emotional, spiritual and intellectual resources essential to psychological wellbeing. While psycho- social stress is not the only route through which disadvantage affects outcomes, it does appear to be pivotal.
