A Chaetoceros strain was successfully isolated to a unialgal state from Giao Thuy mangrove and identified to be of Chaetoceros muelleri species based on morphological properties and 18S rDNA sequence analysis. ASW medium together with 250/00 of salinity was found to be best suitable for the growth of this strain and was applied to its biomass production.

The bioflocculation efficiency was depended on the pH, carbon sources, the initial algae concentrations, bacteria strains, and the inital bioflocculant-producing bacteria concentrations. The temperature lightly affected the bioflocculation, no noticeable behavioral or activity changes were observed in mice that were orally administrated with four bacterial strains, and no treatment-related illness or death occurred after 72 hours.

Recently, several strains of microalgae have been studied as they contain high lipid content capable to be converted to biodiesel. Fresh water microalgae Chlorella vulgaris studied in this research was one of the proof as it contained high triacyl glyceride which made it a potential candidate for biodiesel production. Factors responsible for good growing of microalgae such as CO2 and nitrogen concentration were investigated. It was found that total lipid content was increased after exposing to media with not enough nitrogen concentration.

Scenedesmus was one of the microalgae belonging to Chlorophyta. It can be used as living food for aquaculture. This study was carried out to isolate it from aqua pond water and find out the suitable media for their growth. Dilution method was easier but needed longer time for isolating.
