Medicinal plants are the wealthy source of antibacterial agents and curatives. There is an urgent need for new antimicrobial agents, so the antimicrobial activity for Ruta graveolens L. and Ficus carica Linn. Crude extracts were evaluated for its inhibitory activity against some disease causing selected microorganisms.

The objective of this study is to isolate and screen fungal strains with antibacterial activity from the marine environment. Twenty five strains of fungi were isolated from marine sediments of Thanh Lan, Co To island and assessed on antibiotic activity against 7 tested microbial strains, including three Gram-negative bacteria (Escherichia coli ATCC25922, Pseudomonas aeruginosa ATCC27853, Salmonella enterica ATCC13076), three Gram-positive bacteria (Enterococcus faecalis ATCC29212, Stapphylococus aureus ATCC25923, Bacillus cereus ATCC 13245), and the yeast Candida albicans ATCC10231.

The presence of organic sulfur-containing oil in the environment is harmful to animals and human health. The combustion of these compounds in fossil fuels tends to release sulfur dioxide in the atmosphere, which leads to acid rain, corrosion, damage to crops, and an array of other problems. The process of biodesulfurization rationally exploits the ability of certain microorganisms in the removal of sulfur prior to fuel burning, without loss of calorific value.

Bioremediation is a highly potential approach to restore and rehabilitate oil polluted soils having many recalcitrant polyaromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) such as dibenzothiophene (DBT), benzothiophene (BT), etc by use of microorganisms. In the present study biosurfactant producing bacterial diversity and distribution for bioremediation of oil contaminated soils of upper Assam for the growth of Muga host plant Som (Persea bombycina) were studied. Crude oil contaminated soil samples were collected from Lakwa, Gelakey, and Nazira regions of upper Assam and heterotrophic bacteria were isolated.

Lipases are enzymes that catalyze the transformation reactions of triglycerides in to fatty acids and glycerol. They can be produced by animals, plants and microorganisms. This article presents the isolation of lipase-producing bacteria from soil samples collected from sites contaminated with waste from palm oil production in the littoral region of Cameroon. These permit to isolate a multitude of bacteria capable of producing lipase from Rhodamine B-agar olive oil culture medium.

The exclusive use of plant juices, not as a mere supplement to synthetic culture media, for culturing rhizospheric microorganisms (RMO) is introduced here. Juices were prepared from desert (Mesembryanthemum crystallinum L., Zygophyllum album L., Carpobrotus edulis L.) as well as cultivated (Trifolium alexandrinum L., Beta vulgaris L.) plants. Colonies of RMO (Azospirillum brasilense, Enterobacter agglomerans and Klebsiella pneumoniae) nicely developed on surfaceinoculated agar plates prepared from crude and diluted juice of M. crystallinum (ice plant).

Worldwide, crude oil demand is unceasingly increasing. As a response, Enhanced Oil Recovery (EOR) processes have re‐gained interest from the research and development phases to the oilfield EOR implementation stage. This renewed interest has been also furthered by the current high oil price environment, the maturation of oilfields worldwide, and few new‐well discoveries. Concurrently, environmental concerns and public pressure related to crude oil pollution control and remediation of oilcontaminated sites are becoming greater than ever....
