Microsporidian parasite
-
Microsporidia are mostly very small, intracellular, spore-forming pathogens classified as Protista and reported in every major group of animals. Insects are one of the most widely distributed hosts for microsporidia. Many entomopathogenic microsporidia cause chronic infections in insects and their effects appear as reduced fertility and pupal weight, reduced fecundity and shortened longevity. Crepidopdera aurata (Coleoptera; Chrysomelidae) is one of the most destructive pests in poplar nurseries.

In recent years, a number of diseases have been negatively effecting on shrimp aquaculture. More recently, Enterocytozoon hepatopenaei (EHP), a microsporidian parasite causes Hepatopancreatic Microsporidiosis (HPM) to be associated with white feces syndrome (WFS) and slow (retarded or stunted) growth in farmed L. vannamei (pacific white leg shrimp) in many of the shrimp growing countries in Asia, also in India. Numerous studies revealed that the pathogen causing significant economic losses to the shrimp industry.

Shrimp culture is the most lucrative aquaculture sector in Asia-Pacific region. Recently, shrimp farms in India have been affected by the microsporidian parasite, Enterocytozoon hepatopenaei (EHP) associated with retarded growth without other clinical signs, causing significant economic losses to the shrimp industry. The present study was carried out to investigate the incidence of EHP in Penaeus vannamei farms of Nellore district of Andhra Pradesh, and to identify the carriers of EHP and the role of management in reducing the incidence of EHP in ponds.

Hepaotopancreatic Microsporidiosis (HPM) caused by Enterocytozoon hepatopenaei (EHP), a microsporidian parasite to be associated with slow (retarded or stunted) growth and white feces syndrome (WFS) in cultured shrimp in many of the shrimp growing countries in Asia, also in India. In the present study, shrimp samples from various shrimp ponds from different Mandals of SPSR Nellore district, Andhra Pradesh, India, were collected over a period of five months (February 2016 to June 2016). Important diagnosis observed were histopathological studies, molecular technique (PCR).

Disease is one of the major factors affecting the development and sustainability of aquaculture. White spot disease caused by white spot syndrome virus (WSSV) results in severe production and economic losses to the shrimp farming industry worldwide. Recently, Hepatopancreatic microsporidiosis caused by Enterocytozoon hepatopenaei (EHP) a microsporidian parasite has been reported to cause severe growth retardation and losses in commercial Penaeus vannamei farming. In the present study, we report the prevalence of white spot syndrome virus and hepatopancreatic microsporidiosis in the P.
