Research supports that moderate-to-vigorous intensity physical activity (MVPA) is key to prolonged health and function. Among older adults, substantial changes to MVPA may be infeasible, thus a growing literature suggests a shift in focus to whole-day activity patterns.

The research on associations between gait, physical function, physical activity (PA), and cognitive function is growing. Still, clinical assessments of cognitive function and motor function is often kept separate. In this study, we aimed to look at a broad range of measures of gait, physical function, and PA in three groups of home-dwelling older adults with no or questionable dementia, mild dementia, and moderate/severe dementia.

Divergent selection for meat and egg production in poultry has resulted in strains of birds differing widely in traits related to these products. Modern strains of meat birds can reach live weights of 2 kg in 35 d, while layer strains are now capable of producing more than 300 eggs per annum but grow slowly. In this study, RNA-Seq was used to investigate hepatic gene expression between three groups of birds with large differences in growth potential; meat bird, layer strain as well as an F1 layer x meat bird.

Bacteria which grow on the surface of such paintings might discolor the painting not only through their own pigments but also by excreting metabolic products. Heterotrophic bacteria can use organic compounds from the paint layer as growth substrates, producing acids, which cause discoloration of the paint or change its consistency. The bacterial contaminants isolated in the paint products included Bacillus sp. All isolates can grow in MSM medium with paint and cause some changes color, turbidity, acidity, decrease amount of paint and high to moderate growth of Bacillus sp.
