Zeolites, commonly referred to as molecular sieves, are aluminosilicate minerals with an open structure and interconnecting holes that can be explored by molecular, atomic, and ionic components. Zeolites, called pozzolans, are hydrophilic aluminum silicates that contain alkali and alkaline earth elements.

Mesoporous molecular sieve Al-Si-MCM41 was synthesized by using hexadecyltrimetylammonium bromide (C9H42BrN) as surfactant at room temperature. The material characterization was studied by IR, XRD, HR-TEM, nitrogen desorption-absorption isotherms BET and TPD-NH3 methods.

A microporous+mesoporous material composed of MCM-41 and MFI was produced by a two-step synthetic process. The solid, called 99MMM-1,:: was characterized by X-ray di4raction (XRD), N2 physisorption, and transmission electron microscopy (TEM).
