Ultra-wideband (UWB) radars are getting much attention for maritime applications of smart and luxury ships in which UWB radar could be integrated into Bridge Navigational Watch & Alarm System - BNWAS. One of the interesting applications of UWB radar is vital signs measurement, which is a contactless method. UWB radar measures respiration and heartbeat rate by the motion of thorax for detecting and checking the state of people on the bridge.

The motion equation of a one-degree-of-freedom system when subjected to earthquakes is usually not solved by analytic methods. This problem can only be solved through the time step method, when integrating differential equations. This paper is devoted to presenting a numerical solution for a seismic analysis problem of a highway bridge pier with high damping rubber bearings under earthquakes.

In the course of current research the procedure of obtaining of the piecewise linear vibration systems time and frequency responses have been developed. The method is partly analytical and partly numerical and is based on combining of linear solutions of different sections in a cycle of motion. In a row with the method of obtaining of the exact steady state time and frequency response, also it is provided sensitivity analysis of the vibration isolator.

The thesis " A Study of Vibration Control of Truck Seat Suspension System" has designed a novel active truck seat suspension system for a further study of active vibration control. A 5-degree-of-freedom driver and seating suspension system model for active vibration control has been developed. A novel fast system parameter identification method from vibration measurement data has been proposed for the seat-occupant system based on the multi-objective Genetic Algorithm optimization (GA).

The southern part of the Western Anatolia Extensional Province is governed by E-W-trending horst-graben systems and NW-SE-oriented active faults. The NW-striking Yatağan Fault is characterised by an almost pure normal sense of motion with a minor dextral strike slip component. Although the settlements within the area have been affected by several earthquake events since ancient times (~2000 BCE), the earthquake potential and history of the Yatağan Fault has remained unknown until a few years ago.

The greatest advantage of this method is its accuracy and rapidness. The EEW system issues several alarm messages during the course of one earthquake, improving the accuracy of the warning as the amount of available data increases. The EEWis transmitted to many kinds of devices and used for personal safety and automatic control. It is very important to observe strong motion in real-time using a dense network in order to improve the EEWsystem.

The ripplon modes of two segregated Bose-Einstein condensates (BECs) confined by one and two hard walls are respectively studied by means of the hydrodynamic approach within the Gross-Pitaevskii (GP) theory. For the system at rest we find that due to the spatial restriction the dispersion relations are of the form ω ∼ k 2 in low momentum limit for both cases, while for the system in motion parallel to the interface the dispersion relations for both cases are ω ∼ k at low momentum limit and, furthermore, the system becomes unstable.

In this paper, we present a research on image compression technique in overdrive system of liquid crystal displays (LCD). The overdrive in LCD is a technique to reduce the response time of LCD, to remove drawback of motion blur caused by the slow response of liquid crystals. This problem has been studied in recent years.

Feedback is an integral part of our lives. Try touching your fingertips with your eyes closed; you may not succeed the first time because you have broken a feedback loop that ordinarily “regulates” your motions. The regulatory role of feedback manifests itself in biological, mechanical, and electronic systems, allowing precise realization of “functions.” For example, an amplifier targeting a precise gain of 2.00 is designed much more easily with feedback than without.

A structuring and eventual exclusion of water surrounding backbone hydrogen bonds takes place during protein fold-ing as hydrophobic residues cluster around such bonds. Taken as an average over all hydrogen bonds, the extent of desolvation is nearly a constant of motion, as revealed by re-examination of the longest all-atom trajectory with explicit solvent [Y.Duan & P.A.Kollman (1998)Science 282, 740].Furthermore, this extent of desolvation is pre-served across native soluble proteins, except for cellular prion proteins....

ON WEAK SOLUTIONS OF THE EQUATIONS OF MOTION OF A VISCOELASTIC MEDIUM WITH VARIABLE BOUNDARY V. G. ZVYAGIN AND V. P. ORLOV Received 2 September 2005 The regularized system of equations for one model of a viscoelastic medium with memory along trajectories of the field of velocities is under consideration. The case of a changing domain is studied. We investigate the weak solvability of an initial boundary value problem for this system. 1. Introduction The purpose of the present paper is an extension of the result of [21] on the case of a changing domain. Let Ωt ∈ Rn , 2 ≤...

Reduction of Effective Arterial Volume In many forms of edema, the effective arterial blood volume, a parameter that represents the filling of the arterial tree, is reduced. Underfilling of the arterial tree may be caused by a reduction of cardiac output and/or systemic vascular resistance. As a consequence of underfilling, a series of physiologic responses designed to restore the effective arterial volume to normal are set into motion. A key element of these responses is the retention of salt and, therefore, of water, ultimately leading to edema.

Physiologic Vertigo This occurs in normal individuals when (1) the brain is confronted with an intersensory mismatch among the three stabilizing sensory systems; (2) the vestibular system is subjected to unfamiliar head movements to which it is unadapted, such as in seasickness; (3) unusual head/neck positions, such as the extreme extension when painting a ceiling; or (4) following a spin.

The origin of MSC.ADAMS can be traced back to a program of research initiated by Chace at the University of Michigan in 1967. By 1969 Chace (1969, 1970) and Korybalski (Chace and Korybalski, 1970) had completed the original version of DAMN (Dynamic Analysis of Mechanical Networks). This was historically the first general program to solve time histories for systems undergoing large displacement dynamic motion. This work led in 1971 to a new program DRAM (Dynamic Response of Articulated Machinery) that was further enhanced by Angel (Chace and Angel, 1977).
