In Hacking a terror network: The silent threat of covert channels, Russ Rogers uses a fictional scenario to demonstrate how terrorists may use the Internet to coordinate and launch a new series of terrorist attacks. While the scenario may be fictitious, the techniques and technologies that Russ uses are drawn straight from the computer security world, making this not only an interesting literary read but also a technical manual on how covert channels work and how law enforcement and intelligence organizations can go about discovering and defeating them.

Volume Two, the exegesis, examines various literary techniques (autonomous monologue, narrated monologue and communal narration) used in the representation of the consciousness of female characters in Marie Darrieussecq's 'A brief stay with the living' and Jacinta Halloran's 'Dissection'. With reference to the work of narratologists, Susan Lanser and Dorrit Cohn, these literary techniques are analysed in the context of two contemporary novels that seek to represent women's inner lives.

The objective of my research is to develop a body of work for exhibition based on an examination of the ways that corporate space, as exemplified by the foyers and conference rooms of contemporary corporate offices, reflect societal anxieties about wealth and power. These works will draw on the history of painting, with particular reference to 17th century Dutch still life painting, as a framework within which to conduct the exploration of contemporary space.

This research project investigates the relationship between music composition, particularly electronic pop, and sound design (the editing/mixing of sound for cinema), with its main focus on Multi-channel (Surround Sound) techniques. It proposes new practices that extend music compositional tools into embracing spatial techniques employed by sound design. My research encompasses both the conceptual development (ie spatial techniques in creating narratives) and the practical issues relating to the production and technology needed for such works.

Breast cancer survivors have a unique risk for negative health outcomes. Engaging in routine physical activity (PA) can reduce these risks. However, PA levels are low among this population. Narrative visualization (NV) is a technique that uses drawings, photographs, and text to contextualize data, which may increase integrated regulation, or motivation related to personal values and identity.

While methods to derive the warning signs differ in their individual techniques to predict outcomes, they share a common feature in that they reflect the influence of the founding theories of Yin and Yang and the Five Elements, Heaven-Man Unification, and Magic Association. Research on the influence of those theories on warning signs will help readers appreciate better the intellectual and cultural depth of the literary work.

This chapter extends your database design skills by presenting normalization techniques to remove redundancy in relational tables. In this chapter, you learned about the notation used in entity relationship diagrams, important data modeling patterns, guidelines to avoid common modeling errors, and conversion of entity relationship diagrams (ERDs) into relational tables. You applied this knowledge to construct ERDs for small, narrative problems.

We describe an unsupervised system for learning narrative schemas, coherent sequences or sets of events (arrested(POLICE , SUSPECT), convicted( JUDGE , SUSPECT )) whose arguments are filled with participant semantic roles defined over words (J UDGE = {judge, jury, court}, P OLICE = {police, agent, authorities}). Unlike most previous work in event structure or semantic role learning, our system does not use supervised techniques, hand-built knowledge, or predefined classes of events or roles.

In this scene building towards the climax of the film, the director is using the technique of cross- cutting to build up suspense, create narrative tension and to wrong foot the audience.. Will the FBI get to the house of the serial killer in time to save the woman whom he has imprisoned in the basement? At this point in the movie, the FBI believe that they have tracked down the address of the serial killer while the lead character, Clarice Starling (played by Jodie Foster) is searching elsewhere. Because we are so used to this type of dramatic scene...

Cross-cutting or inter-cutting is a primary narrative device of the continuity style. This technique pieces together sequences that occur at the same time but in different places in order to increase narrative tension. The literary equivalent of this device is simple narrative transition such as “meanwhile” or “in another part of town”. Some films borrow these verbal clues by using inter-titles or voice-over narration. Clips mentioned in this section are not available to view on the website but are readily available to buy or rent from the usual outlets. ...

As cinema first evolved in the early 20th century, a particular style of shooting and editing geared towards making film narratives easier to understand developed. This became known as the continuity style and from the very outset, it proved popular with both filmmakers themselves and with audiences. The continuity style has since become the moving image’s most conventional and dominant mode of visual storytelling.

The first difference to notice is that PRINCE2 is clearly project life cycle based with six out of eight major processes running from "Starting up a project" to "Closing a project". The remaining two, "Planning" and "Directing a project" are continuous processes supporting the other six. Each of these have their respective sub-process totaling 45 in all. Then, feeding into the system, are six "Components" some of which are documents and others that are themselves processes.
