To study analgesic effects of basil extracts (Ocimum basilicum L.) on mice. Subjects and methods: The experiments were conducted according to heat stimulation (hot plate) and needle slide methods. In each experiment, mice were divided into 4 groups of 10 each, in which the negative control group was given distilled water, the positive one took the control drug, and the others were treated with basil extracts at the doses of 2.4 and 7.2 g/kg/day for 7 consecutive days.

Negative energy balance (NEB) is an imbalance between energy intake and energy requirements for lactation and body maintenance affecting high-yielding dairy cows and is of considerable economic importance due to its negative impact on fertility and health in dairy herds. It is anticipated that the cow hypothalamus experiences extensive biochemical changes during the early post partum period in an effort to re-establish metabolic homeostasis. However, there is variation in the tolerance to NEB between individual cows.

A study was carried out to evaluate the hepatoprotective property of Alternanthera sessilis in CCl4 induced hepatotoxicity in rats. A total of 36 Wister rats were selected for the purpose of study, segregated into six different groups having six numbers of animals in each. Group T1 was kept as negative control and fed standard basal diet for a period of four weeks. Group T2 was kept as positive control and subjected to CCl4 plus liquid paraffin (50% v/v) treatment at the rate of 2ml/kg body weight twice a week for three weeks.

The present study was conducted to evaluate the effect of various antimycoplasma drugs on haematological and biochemical changes in commercial broilers. Three hundred and twenty, day-old, unsexed broiler chicks of Vencobb strain were randomly allotted to 7 treatment groups with each treatment having 4 replicates and each replicate consisting of 10 birds. T1 served as negative control, T2-T7 groups were administered with Tylosin, Enrofloxacin, Taimulin, Erythromycin, Tilmicosin and Nizatidine whereas, T8 served as positive control group.

The goats under negative control group (Group-I) were kept in complete environmental ambience without transportation stress. Group II as a positive control, subjected to normal environment and induced transportation stress for 12 hrs over a distance of 350 Km on 10th day of experiment. There was an average shrinkage of body weight of 5.76 per cent in transported goats over their pre-transport weight.
