In Myanmar, approximately half of all neonatal hospital admissions are for hyperbilirubinaemia, and tertiary facilities report high rates of Exchange Transfusion (ET). The aim of this study was to evaluate the effectiveness of the pilot program in reducing ET, separately of inborn and outborn neonates.

Nosocomial fungal infections in neonatal intensive care units are a serious emerging problem. However, the role of fungal bio-aerosols as the source of such infections has not been explored in the NICU setting. Hence, this study was done to know the fungal composition of aerosols in NICU as the source of neonatal nosocomial infections. 1m3 of NICU air was sampled fortnightly over 12 months onto SDA with chloramphenicol using a sieve type air sampler.

Admissions of infants in England have increased substantially but there is little evidence whether this is across the first year or predominately in neonates; and for all or for specific causes. We aimed to characterise this increase, especially those admissions that may be avoidable in the context of postnatal care provision.

The supply of breast milk to preterm infants tends to occur at a lower rate than that recorded among term infants. We aimed to investigate the facilitators of and barriers to breastfeeding during hospital stay according to the experiences of mothers that gave birth to premature infants requiring admission to neonatal intensive care unit.
