Nitrogen and Phosphorus are the two most essential nutrients in popcorn. Others nutrients that are limiting in soil and require fertilization for popcorn are K, S, Zn, Fe, etc. To produce one tone of grain and dry matter, maize crop withdraws 8.0 kg of N, 2.5 kg of P2O5 and 18 kg of K2O from the soil.

Cotton (Gossypium hirsutum L.) is the most important cash crop and there is a demand for simultaneous increase in the productivity of cotton, edible oilseeds and fodders to fulfil the diversified needs of growing population. For this purpose, cotton-based intercropping seems to be a promising strategy. Short duration legume fodders are potential sources of nutrients during summer especially atmospheric nitrogen fixing which are supplement of inorganic fertilizers.

The field investigation entitled “Effect of plant geometry and fertilizer levels on yield and economicsof cowpea (Vignaunguiculata L. Walp)” was conducted at Department of Agronomy, College of Agriculture, Latur. The experimental field was levelled and well drained. The soil was clay loam in texture, low in available nitrogen, very low in available phosphorus, very high in available potassium and moderately alkaline in reaction. The environmental conditions prevailed during experimental period was favourable for normal growth and maturity of cowpea crop.

Cluster bean [Cyamopsis tetragonoloba (L.) Taub] popularly known as “Guar” is an important legume crop mainly grown under rain fed condition in arid and semi-regions of Rajasthan during kharif season. It is very hardy and drought tolerant crop. Its deep penetrating roots enable the plant to utilize available moisture more efficiently and thus offer better scope for rain fed cropping. It has high calorific and nutritive value and its seed contains 28-32% of gum.

A greenhouse experiment was carried out to study the efficiency of Arbuscular Mycorrhizal fungi indigenous to Arunachal Pradesh in uptaking plant nutrients for the Piper mullesua plantlets at different levels of phosphatic fertilizer (Single Super Phosphate). In plants, P availability is considered the second most important limiting factor for growth after nitrogen. While P is generally abundant in soil, it is mostly present in insoluble and poorly mobile forms and therefore partly unavailable to plants.
