In this paper, we show that there is a certain interval of input intensity, in which the transmission coefficients overlap one to other. This behaviors of SNC can be used to generate random signals. Using the expression described the output-input power relation, the expression of the optical merge signal, carrier signal and coded-carrier signal, the overlapping region of the input intensity is numerically observed.

In the paper, we explore the potential of sketchnoting as a tool for constructing learner´s knowledge. Sketchnoting is nonlinear note-taking method that combines text and visual elements to express knowledge in a complex form, and is represented by text, symbols, arrows, frames, and other visual elements.

An analytical approach for nonlinear buckling of functionally graded graphene platelet reinforced composite toroidal shell segments is presented in this paper. The Ritz energy procedure is executed, and radial pressure–deflection expression is constituted to obtain the postbuckling strength and critical buckling pressure of the shells.

Quantum theory of nonlinear absorption of strong electromagnetic wave (EMW) by confined electrons in two - dimensional (2D) graphene without magnetic field has been studied by using the quantum kinetic equation in assumption of electron - optical phonon scattering. The analytic expression of absorption coefficient is obtained in 2D graphene.

This study suggests a solution to the ELD problem based on a new intelligent optimization algorithm called the Jellyfish search algorithm (JSA). Due to the imitation of jellyfish's behavior searching for food in the ocean, the JSA owes the advanced characteristics, e.g., simple structure, fast search, and easy to implement. The ELD problem is mathematically expressed as a typical multi-constraint nonlinear optimization problem that can be dealt with by optimizing the JSA algorithm successfully.

Single cell experiments provide an unprecedented opportunity to reconstruct a sequence of changes in a biological process from individual “snapshots” of cells. However, nonlinear gene expression changes, genes unrelated to the process, and the possibility of branching trajectories make this a challenging problem.

In this paper, effect of porosity on nonlinear analysis of plate structures is presented. Two porous distributions are considered. Governing equations are expressed by using isogeometric analysis (IGA) and the third-order shear deformation theory (TSDT). With these approaches, it is easy to fulfil the C1-continuity requirement of the plate model.

The deep neural networks, these are: 1) the negative cancellation property of ReLU tends to treat negative inputs as unimportant information for the learning, resulting in performance degradation; 2) the inherent predefined nature of ReLU is unlikely to promote additional flexibility, expressivity, and robustness to the networks.

Time series single-cell RNA sequencing (scRNA-seq) data are emerging. However, the analysis of time series scRNA-seq data could be compromised by 1) distortion created by assorted sources of data collection and generation across time samples and 2) inheritance of cell-to-cell variations by stochastic dynamic patterns of gene expression.

The nonlinear free vibration of embedded nanotubes under longitudinal magnetic field is studied in this paper. The governing equation for the nanotube is formulated by employing Euler–Bernoulli beam model and the nonlocal strain gradient theory. The analytical expression of the nonlinear frequency of the nanotube is obtained by using Galerkin method and the equivalent linearization method with the weighted averaging value. The accuracy of the obtained solution has been verified by comparison with the published solutions and the exact solution.

The analytical expression for the self-Kerr nonlinear coefficient in a three-level V-type atomic medium is found in the presence of the Doppler effect. Based on the analytical results, we have analyzed the enhancement and control of the Kerr nonlinear coefficient under the condition of electromagnetically induced transparency. It is shown that the Kerr nonlinear coefficient is significantly enhanced around the resonant frequency of both the probe and coupling fields.

The analytic expressions of the free energy, the mean nearest neighbor distance between two atoms and the nonlinear deformation quantities such as the density of deformation energy, the maximum real stress and the limit of elastic deformation for interstitial alloy AB with BCC structure under pressure are derived from the statistical moment method. The nonlinear deformations of main metal A is special case of nonlinear deformation for interstitial alloy AB.

Gene set analysis (GSA) methods test the association of sets of genes with phenotypes in gene expression microarray studies. While GSA methods on a single binary or categorical phenotype abounds, little attention has been paid to the case of a continuous phenotype, and there is no method to accommodate correlated multiple continuous phenotypes.

Genome-scale models of metabolism and macromolecular expression (ME) significantly expand the scope and predictive capabilities of constraint-based modeling. ME models present considerable computational challenges: they are much (> 30 times) larger than corresponding metabolic reconstructions (M models), are multiscale, and growth maximization is a nonlinear programming (NLP) problem, mainly due to macromolecule dilution constraints.
