  • Ebook "Voltage-gated calcium channels" covers the tremendous progress in the current understanding of the molecular physiology of voltage-gated calcium channels. This book includes unparalleled insights into structural features of calcium channels due to X-ray crystallography and cryo-EM, which in turn yielded critical information into how these channels function under normal and pathophysiological conditions, and how they interact with calcium channel therapeutics.

  • Reactive oxygen species (ROS) or oxidative stress has been reported with strongly involving to pathogenesis of many diseases in human. On the other hand, ROS play a critical regulation as secondary signal to maintain intracellular redox equilibrium. Basically, the antioxidant defense systems in the body counteract with overproduced ROS. However, when the redox balance is broken under severe oxidative stress conditions, it leads to tissue injuries and numerous disorders.

  • The study was conducted to examine the effect of high temperature on seed quality attributes viz., physical, physiological and biochemical in wheat. Twelve diverse genotype’s seed obtained from normal and high temperature growing conditions were tested for quality. High parent plant growth temperature during seed development and maturation resulted in poor seed quality.

  • Drought seriously curtails growth, physiology and productivity in rapeseed (Brassica napus). Although drought tolerance is a complex trait, efficient phenotyping and genotyping has led to the identification of novel marker-trait associations underlying drought tolerance. A diverse panel of 228 Brassica accessions was phenotyped under normal (without stress) and water-stress conditions, simulated by polyethylene glycol (PEG-6000) (15% PEG stress) at the seedling stage; stress tolerance index (STI) and stress susceptibility index (SSI) values were acquired.

  • In this study under drought stress condition morphological and physiological traits are significantly decreased which compare to normal grown tomato. Maximum reduction was noted in Yield (60.00%), number of leaves (53.17%), number of fruit /cluster (37.77%) and fruit setting (32.95%) under drought stress at growth stage. Electrolyte leakage (21.20%) showed highest under drought stress condition. Maximum RWC (77.86%) and specific leaf area (6.43cm2 g -1 ) were noted under control condition.

  • Agrobacterium tumefaciens-based transient assays have become a common tool for answering questions related to protein localization and gene expression in a cellular context. The use of these assays assumes that the transiently transformed cells are observed under relatively authentic physiological conditions and maintain ‘normal’ sub-cellular behaviour.

  • The experiment was conducted at the cage house in the Department of Plant Physiology, S.K.N. College of Agriculture, Jobner (Jaipur) to study the effect of brassinolide on yield attributes of fenugreek (Trigonella foenum-graecum Linn) under drought conditions. Four fenugreek cultivars namely RMt-1, RMt-361, RMt-305 and Hissar Sonali were grown in ceramic pots under normal conditions till vegetative stage and then plants were sprayed with brassinolide (0.0, 0.25, 0.50, 0.75 and 1.00 ppm concentration) followed by half the plant population subjected to water stress by withholding irrigation.

  • Fertility augmentation approaches Fertility is one of the key determinants of the life time reproductive performance of the dairy cattle (Bos taurus and Bos indicus) and riverine buffaloes (Bubalus bubalis) which is reflected by its genotype, physiological condition, nutrition and management. It is assessed by the ability of a dairy cow to produce one calf per year. Fertility in riverine buffalo is considerably lower than in cattle.

  • Cereals, legumes and oilseed crops are grown over 90% of the world’s harvested area. Together they serve as a major source of nutrients for the animal kingdom. An important constituent of seeds of these crops is phytic acid (myo-inositol 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6-hexakisphosphate; Ins P6). The salt form, phytate, is an anhydrous storage form of phosphate accounting for more than 80% of the total phosphorus in cereals and legumes. In contrast to other organo-phosphate molecules, phytate contains a high phosphate content, which results in a high negative charge over a wide pH range.

  • Galactinol synthase (GolS) has been known to play a key role in raffinose biosynthesis by catalysing the formation of galactinol. The GolS gene family has been recently identified in various plant species. Among them, many individual GolS genes have been reported to function in plant stress tolerance. In this study, we reported the construction of transgenic Arabidopsis overexpressing a soybean GolS gene, GolS2. There were no significant differences in the phenotypes of the transgenic and control plants during normal physiological conditions.
