Nonalcoholic fatty liver disease affects about 24% of the world’s population and may progress to nonalcoholic steatohepatitis (NASH), cirrhosis, and hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). While more common in those that are obese, NASH-HCC can develop in lean individuals. The mechanisms by which HCC develops and the role of epigenetic changes in the context of obesity and normal weight are not well understood.

It is an established fact that the cause of Polycystic Ovarian Disease (PCOD) has a significant hereditary component. Various researchers have also revealed that PCOD is associated with obesity and successful weight reduction is the most effective method of restoring normal ovulation and menstruation. In the present study, an attempt is made to assess the general, anthropometric, biochemical and clinical observation along with lifestyle and dietary pattern of the patients.

A study was conducted at Bangladesh Agricultural Research Institute’s greenhouse with 48 maize genotypes through hydroponic culture. Morphologically, plants behave differently in low phosphorus conditions than in normal phosphorus environments. Large augmented roots were found in the plant in low phosphorus conditions. The results revealed that chlorophyll contents, shoot length, root length shoot dry weight, root dry weight, leaf area, and root/shoot ratio might be considered critical traits for screening low phosphorus tolerant maize at the seedling stage.

Understanding the relation between chemical characteristics and properties of synthetic polymers is one of the challenges faced by analytical chemists in industry. This is a complex task, as polymers are not synthesized as single molecule, but are populations of chemically similar compounds with distributions over several properties.

Anaemia occurs in children when the haemoglobin level in the blood is less than the normal (11g/ dL), the consequence is the decrease of oxygen quantity in the tissues. It is a prevalent public health problem in many low-income countries, including Madagascar, and data on risk factors are lacking.

Recently, a new metabolic health (MH) definition was developed from NHANES-III. In the origin study, the definition may stratify mortality risks in people who are overweight or normal weight. We aimed to investigate the association between the new MH definition and all-cause mortality in a nonobese Chinese population.

This study aimed to compare the ability of certain obesity-related indicators to identify metabolic syndrome (MetS) among normal-weight adults in rural Xinjiang. After adjusting for confounding factors, each indicator in different genders was correlated with MetS. Triglyceride-glucose index (TyG index) showed the strongest association with MetS in both males (OR=3.749, 95%CI: 3.173–4.429) and females (OR=3.521,95%CI: 2.990–4.148).

Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) is the most versatile and informative imaging modality for the diagnosis of locomotor injuries in many animal species; however, veterinary literature describing the MRI of the dromedary camel tarsus is lacking. Our purpose was to describe and compare the MRI images of twelve cadaveric tarsi, examined in a 1.5 Tesla MRI scanner, with their corresponding anatomical gross sections.

The association of obesity with colorectal cancer (CRC) may vary depending on metabolic status. The individuals with metabolic abnormality, although at a normal weight, have an increased risk for CRC. Moreover, obesity is associated with CRC irrespective of metabolic status.

Mechanical power (MP), defned as the amount of energy produced by mechanical ventilation and released into the respiratory system, was reportedly a determining factor in the pathogenesis of ventilator-induced lung injury. However, previous studies suggest that the efects of MP were proportional to their involvement in the total lung function size. Therefore, MP normalized to the predicted body weight (norMP) should outperform the absolute MP value.

The six-minute walk test (6MWT) is a simple, low tech, safe and well established, self-paced assessment tool to quantify functional exercise capacity in adults. The definition of normal 6MWT in children is especially demanding since not only parameters like height, weight and ethnical background influence the measurement, but may be as crucial as age and the developmental stage.

Obese patients (OB) with COPD may better tolerate exercise as compared to normal weight (NW) COPD patients, even if the reason for this is not yet fully understood. We investigated the interactions between obesity, lung hyperinflation, fat-free mass (FFM) and exercise capacity in COPD.
