Number of lobes

The pancreas, an important organ of endocrine research is a digestive gland with both exocrine and endocrine functions. The pancreas for this study was collected from different age groups of large white Yorkshire and desi pigs. The morphometrical parameters such as weight of pancreas, length and width of each lobe and histometrical parameters such as number of islets per lobule, length and width of islets were recorded. The pancreas of pigs consisted of splenic, duodenal and connecting lobes. The mean weight of the pancreas was gradually increased as age advanced.

The breadfruit tree (Artocarpus altilis), despite its food, therapeutic and agroforestry potential, remained underutilized in Benin due to the lack of information on the species. The objective of this study is to carry out the morphological characterization of the species in order to have a better knowledge of its diversity in Benin, an essential step in its safeguarding and its use. Thus, the discriminatory morphological descriptors in Artocarpus altilis in relation to the agro-ecological diversity of Benin have been identified. Foliar, fruit and seed characteristics were studied.

Bell Pepper (Capsicum annuum L var. grossum) popularly known as sweet pepper, capsicum or Shimla Mirch is a high value vegetable and an important cash crop for temperate regions. The correlation between different quantitative characters provides an idea of association that could be effectively exploited to formulate selection strategies for improving yield components. For any effective selection programme, it would be desirable to consider the relative magnitude of association of various characters with yield.

In order to detect some of the determinants of rice flavor, an experiment was carried out that studied panicle primordia at the initial panicles of three aromatic varieties: Nang Thom Cho Dao mutation (NTCDm), Thom Bay Nui (TBN), and Jasmine-85, and IR28 was used as the control variety (non-aroma). The samples were dyed from the primordium stage to the ripe-pollen stage. Results showed that there were two key differences between the aromatic rices and the control.
