The most optimal results in terms of nutritional value of fish meat were found in open water carp, in the spring, due to high PUFA content, especially linoleic (n-6), as well as EPA and DHA (n-3) fatty acids. This is the result of diet, because carp consumes phyto and zooplankton from the lake's benthos, which are especially rich in essential fatty acids.

Environmental variation in the amount of resources available to populations challenge individuals to optimize the allocation of those resources to key fitness functions. This coordination of resource allocation relative to resource availability is commonly attributed to key nutrient sensing gene pathways in laboratory model organisms, chiefly the insulin/TOR signaling pathway. However, the genetic basis of diet-induced variation in gene expression is less clear.

For dietary status, growth, development and health, optimal feeding procedures are needed for infants and young children. In order to meet the difference in dietary demands transition foods need to be included in the diet. Diet diversity refers to all food groups being included in the diet. To assess food intake, a food intake questionnaire and a dietary recall method lasting 24 hours were used. Using the seven food groups, diet variety was calculated. ANOVA was used to compare means. Sixty infants and young children have been engaged in these studies.

Aqua cultural production is a major industry in many countries, and it will continue to grow as the demand for fisheries products increases and the supply from natural sources decreases. Good nutrition in animal production systems is essential to economical production of a healthy, high-quality product. In fish farming (aquaculture), nutrition is critical because feed typically represents approximately 50 percent of the variable production cost.

The Thrive Diet grew out of necessity. At the age of 15, I decided that I wanted to become a professional athlete. My goal was to ultimately be a professional Ironman triathlete. Consisting of a 2.4-mile swim, 112-mile cycle, and a 26.2-mile run (a marathon), Ironman triathlon racing is not the easiest way to make a living. But it appealed to me. I enjoyed outdoor exercise, hard work, and a challenge, so why not make a career out of it?
