This history of antimicrobials is marked with impressive discoveries, the majority of which have their origin in natural products. However in this work, the antimicrobial activity of β- nitrostyrenes and related compounds of synthetic origin is reviewed and investigated with a particular focus on the influence of fluorine functionality. Various fluorinated β-methyl-β-nitrostyrene compounds were prepared, their minimum inhibition concentration in cultures of Gram positive, Gram negative and a fungus and their lipophilicity was determined.

This research has foundations in collaboration; the collaboration of ideas, agreement on requirements and harnessing of benefits. This is fitting for a research subject since research shares the same virtues. In this section a summary of the research will be provided. The summary will briefly explain the origins of the research, how the research was proposed. It will then provide a synopsis of the research methodology and application. The qualitative research case studies will be explained and the quantitative research discussed.

This paper focuses on exploring Machine learning methods to automate this process. The main challenge we face is in generating adequate training datasets to train the Machine learning model. Creating training data by manually segmenting real images is very labour-intensive, so we have instead tested methods of automatically creating synthetic training datasets which have the same attributes of the original images. The generated synthetic images are used to train a U-net Model, which is then used to segment the original bread dough images.

This study makes an original contribution to both of theory and practice through forming and validating the ERP success model for accounting professionals only. In a little more detail, it provides empirical evidence regarding Hunton’s accounting value chain (2002). In addition, it discovers and proves effective use as the most appropriate system-use concept so far. Moreover, it makes an effort to investigate outcomes of accounting benefits perceived from ERP system, which related-studies are much further underresearched.

This research investigates the current white spaces of green marketing and country of origin effects, where new research could contribute theoretical value. The conducted research examines American and Swedish consumers’ environmental awareness, willingness and initiative in contributing to their societies for future sustainability. Using a sample of 118 consumers from an intermediated questionnaire for the offline market, a conceptual framework was developed where the study created the foundation and reasonable support for the purposed framework.

Mammalian mitochondria contain strong nuclease activity. Endonuclease G (endoG), which predominantly resides in mitochondria, accounts for a large part of this nuclease activity. It has been proposed to act as an RNase H-like nuclease on RNAÆDNA hybrids (R-loops) in the D-loop region where the origins of mitochondrial replication are mapped, providing RNA primers for mtDNA replication.

Exposure of mammalian cells to oxidant stress causes early (iron catalysed) lysosomal rupture followed by apoptosis or necrosis. Enhanced intracellular production of reactive oxygen species (ROS), presumably of mitochondrial origin, is also observed when cells are exposed to nonoxidant pro-apoptotic agonists of cell death. We hypothesized that ROS generation in this latter case might promote the apoptotic cascade and could arise from effects of released lysosomal materials on mitochondria.

Aconitases are iron–sulfur hydrolyases catalysing the interconversion of cit-rate and isocitrate in a wide variety of organisms. Eukaryotic aconitases have been assigned additional roles, as in the case of the metazoan dual activity cytosolic aconitase–iron regulatory protein 1 (IRP1). This human protein was produced in yeast mitochondria to probe IRP1 folding in this organelle where iron–sulfur synthesis originates.

We characterize precisely the possible rate of decay of the anti-analytic half of a trigonometric series converging to zero almost everywhere. 1. Introduction 1.1. In 1916, D. E. Menshov constructed an example of a nontrivial trigonometric series on the circle T ∞ (1) n=−∞ c(n)eint which converges to zero almost everywhere (a.e.). Such series are called nullseries. This result was the origin of the modern theory of uniqueness in Fourier analysis, see [Z59], [B64], [KL87], [KS94]. Clearly for such a series |c(n)|2 = ∞.

The usual index theorems for holomorphic self-maps, like for instance the classical holomorphic Lefschetz theorem (see, e.g., [GH]), assume that the fixed-points set contains only isolated points. The aim of this paper, on the contrary, is to prove index theorems for holomorphic self-maps having a positive dimensional fixed-points set. The origin of our interest in this problem lies in holomorphic dynamics.

We reformulate a conjecture of Deligne on 1-motives by using the integral weight filtration of Gillet and Soul´ on cohomology, and prove it. This implies e the original conjecture up to isogeny. If the degree of cohomology is at most two, we can prove the conjecture for the Hodge realization without isogeny, and even for 1-motives with torsion. j Let X be a complex algebraic variety. We denote by H(1) (X, Z) the maximal mixed Hodge structure of type {(0, 0), (0, 1), (1, 0), (1, 1)} contained in j j H j (X, Z). Let H(1) (X, Z)fr...

In this paper, we develop an approach for establishing in some important cases, a conjecture made by De Giorgi more than 20 years ago. The problem originates in the theory of phase transition and is so closely connected to the theory of minimal hypersurfaces that it is sometimes referred to as “the version of Bernstein’s problem for minimal graphs”. The conjecture has been completely settled in dimension 2 by the authors [15] and in dimension 3 in [2], yet the approach in this paper seems to be the first to use, in an essential way, the solution of...

A MODIFIED QUASI-BOUNDARY VALUE METHOD FOR A CLASS OF ABSTRACT PARABOLIC ILL-POSED PROBLEMS M. DENCHE AND S. DJEZZAR Received 14 October 2004; Accepted 9 August 2005 We study a final value problem for first-order abstract differential equation with positive self-adjoint unbounded operator coefficient. This problem is ill-posed. Perturbing the final condition, we obtain an approximate nonlocal problem depending on a small parameter. We show that the approximate problems are well posed and that their solutions converge if and only if the original problem has a classical solution.
