One dose assay

We report herein the synthesis, characterization, and cytotoxicity evaluations of some newer oxadiazole and triazole analogues (5a–j). The cytotoxicity of all the title compounds were evaluated as per the National Cancer Institute protocol in a one-dose assay (10 µM) on nine different panels of 59 cancer cell lines. 2-{5-[(2,4-Dichlorophenoxy)methyl]- 1,3,4-oxadiazol-2-yl}phenol (5e) showed the maximum cytotoxicity among the series of ten compounds. The cytotoxicity of 5e was comparable to that of the standard anticancer drug, 5-fluorouracil, and better than that of imatinib.

Chelidonium majus (Poppy Family) is a plant which is distributed in nature and has been used as a traditional medicine. The plant extract showed high content of alkaloids which revealed cytotoxic effect in a cell type and dose dependent way.

In this study, we investigated the causes of JE recurrence. Methods and Findings: All JE cases were laboratory-confirmed by detecting the JEV-specific IgM antibody with an IgMcapture enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). All were children between 2 months and 9 years of age with a median age of 2 years. Of the 31 cases, 9 had received one or two doses of the JEV vaccine, 11 had not been immunized previously with the JEV vaccine, and 11 had an unclear immunization history.

Apeptide called phaiodotoxin was isolated from the venom of the scorpionAnuroctonus phaiodactylus.It is lethal to crickets, but non toxic tomice at the doses assayed. It has 72 amino acid residues, with a molecular mass of 7971 atomic mass units.
