The Mekong deltaic coasts have suffered from erosion and mangrove losses due to many relative threats in human activities, bringing to coastal instabilities. The massive and large number of constructions, such as sea dikes, revetments, and sea walls, tend to break the equilibrium in multiple locations along the coasts. As a result, a significant reduction of mangroves comes along in qualitative and quantitative variations, for example, the number of trees in one location and the healthy width of mangroves.

Within the past two decades, Ethiopia has achieved one of the fastest reductions of open defecation worldwide. This change can be attributed to the implementation of a national sanitation strategy that focused on facilitating community demand for latrine adoption and use of basic self-constructed latrines but less on other preconditions of hygienic sanitation.

Our study aimed to test the hypothesis that the addition of intrathecal morphine (ITM) results in reduced postoperative opioid use and enhanced postoperative analgesia in patients undergoing open liver resection using a standardized enhanced recovery after surgery (ERAS) protocol with multimodal analgesia.

A new and appropriate synthesis for hexahydro-1H-isoindole-1,3(2H)-dione derivatives has been developed starting from 3-sulfolene. The epoxidation of 2-ethyl/phenyl-3a,4,7,7a-tetrahydro-1H-isoindole-1,3-(2H)-dione and then the opening of the epoxide with nucleophiles gave hexahydro-1H-isoindole-1,3(2H)-dione derivatives. Amino and triazole derivatives of hexahydro-1H-isoindole-1,3(2H)-dione were synthesized from the formed product by the opening reaction of the epoxide with sodium azide.

Open reduction internal fixation (ORIF) is the gold standard management of fractures of the distal humerus. Stable fixation to allow early mobilization is not always possible in cases with comminuted fracture patterns and bone loss, with a high failure rate. We propose augmentation of internal fixation in these unstable situations with a spanning plate across the elbow to protect the fixation construct temporarily until bone union.

Although open reduction and internal fixation (ORIF) is recommended for lateral condylar humerus fractures (LCHFs) displaced by >4mm, several studies have reported the use of closed reduction and percutaneous pinning (CRPP) to treat LCHFs with significant displacement.

The efficacy of multi-ion doped nano-hydroxyapatite coated titanium intramedullary pins for long bone fracture repair in dogs was studied clinically. The present study was conducted on twenty-four dogs, accommodating six dogs in each group and were subjected to open reduction and internal immobilization with titanium intramedullary pins. Blood samples were collected on 0 day, at 3,6, and 9thweeks post operatively in all the groups to evaluate the levels of serum calcium, phosphorus and alkaline phosphatase.

Unfavorable reduction is considered one of the key factors leading to joint degeneration and compromised clinical outcome in acetabular fracture patients. Besides the columns, walls, and superior dome, the postoperative position of hip joint center (HJC), which is reported to affect hip biomechanics, should be considered during the assessment of quality of reduction.

The choice between operative or nonoperative treatment is questioned for partial articular fractures of the radial head that have at least 2 millimeters of articular step-off on at least one radiograph (defined as displaced), but less than 2 millimeter of gap between the fragments (defined as stable) and that are not associated with an elbow dislocation, interosseous ligament injury, or other fractures.

The use of minimally invasive plate osteosynthesis (MIPO) via anterolateral deltoid splitting has good outcomes in the management of proximal humerus fractures. While using this approach has several advantages, including minimal soft tissue disruption, preservation of natural biology and minimal blood loss, there is an increased risk for axillary nerve damage.

Fractures of the distal radius are common and account for an estimated 17% of all fractures diagnosed. Two-thirds of these fractures are displaced and require reduction. Although distal radius fractures, especially extra-articular fractures, are considered to be relatively harmless, inadequate treatment may result in impaired function of the wrist.

Distal radius fractures are among the most common fractures seen in the hospital emergency department. Of these, over 40% are considered unstable and require some form of fixation. In recent years with the advent of low profile plating, open reduction and internal fixation (ORIF) using volar plates has become the surgical treatment of choice in many hospitals.

There remain limited data on the epidemiological characteristics and related predictors of surgical site infection (SSI) after open reduction and internal fixation (ORIF) for distal femur fractures (DFFs). We designed this single-centre prospective study to explore and forecast these clinical problems.

The treatment of mallet fracture using hook plate fixation was first introduced in 2007 and has subsequently shown excellent outcomes. Common complications, such as nail deformity and screw loosening, have also been reported. Very few studies have focused on these common complications or their prevention.
