  • Nowadays, supercapacitors have been among popular electrochemical energy storage devices in modern life. Plenty of active materials have been investigated and developed to meet the increasing demands for high-performance supercapacitors. In this study, we introduce a facile chemical synthesis route in combination with a subsequent calcination process to fabricate the oxide/hydroxide composites of nickel (Ni) and copper (Cu) as active materials for highperformance asymmetric supercapacitors.

  • A microextraction procedure was established for the speciation of total Cr, Cr(III), and Cr(VI). Sudan blue II was used as a ligand for speciation works. Some factors affecting the recoveries of chromium species, including type of extraction and dispersive solvents, pH, ligand amount, extraction time, and matrix ions, were examined. Optimum values for the dispersive liquid–liquid microextraction method were pH 6, LOD 0.34 µg L−1 , and preconcentration factor 400.

  • Dispersive liquid–liquid microextraction followed by a back-extraction step was combined with HPLC-DAD for the determination of four parabens (i.e. methyl-, ethyl-, propyl-, and butylparaben). Optimum extraction conditions were found as follows: 225 µL of chloroform, 0.75 mL of ethanol, 7.5 mL of aqueous solution and within an extraction time of 15 s. Back-extraction into 100 µL of 50 mM sodium hydroxide solution within 20 s resulted in a reversed-phase HPLC-compatible extract.

  • Dispersive liquid-liquid microextraction (DLLME) was combined with high-performance liquid chromatography-diodearray detector (HPLC-DAD) for the extraction and quantitation of three major capsaicinoids (i.e. capsaicin, dihydrocapsaicin and nordihydrocapsaicin) from pepper (Capsicum annuum L.). Chloroform (extraction solvent, 100 μL), acetonitrile (disperser solvent, 1250 μL) and 30 s extraction time were found optimum. The analytes were back-extracted into 300 μL of 50 mM sodium hydroxide/ methanol, 45/55% (v/v), within 15 s before being injected into the instrument.

  • The complete treatment of colors and hazardous substances at a reasonable cost is of particular interest in the textile industry. In this batch form study, dye solution and textile dyeing wastewater were successfully treated by Fenton technology combining Moving Bed Reactor/Activated carbon (Fenton-MBR/AC) system. The optimum operating conditions including 3.5 of pH value, 0.5 of Fe/H2O2 ratio, 25mL of H2O2 (30%) solution, and 200mL of sample were found. After 60 min, the color removal and efficiency of COD treatment was 94% and 89%, respectively.

  • The search for optimum design variables is conducted by using a recent heuristic method, namely Grey Wolf Optimizer. During the heuristic search, direct heat conduction problem has to be solved several times. The set of heat transfer parameters that lead to smallest error rate between computed temperature field and reference one is the optimum output of the inverse problem. In order to accelerate the process, the model order reduction technique Proper-Orthogonal-Decomposition (POD) is used.

  • This study aims to employ highly efficient ultrasound-assisted extraction of tamanu oil from seed kernel. Response surface methodology (RSM) with Box-Hunter design was used to investigate the simultaneous effects of multi-factors encompassing extraction time, temperature, and solvent-to-material ratio. The optimum combination of those factors was then determined to ensure optimum extraction efficiencies [12, 13]. The extracted oil was evaluated in terms of physicochemical indexes, composition, and wound healing activity.
