Many clinical studies, which were conducted to evaluate the association between smoking and periodontal diseases, have confirmed the harmful effects of smoking on oral health. Therefore, it is essential to properly assess the periodontal status and smoking habits to improve the effectiveness of interventions and disease prevention.

Generalized loss of skeletal muscle mass (SMM) may modulate or otherwise affect the loss of masseter muscle mass and be responsible for low masseter muscle performance and strength (i.e., low oral function). Moreover, dentition status can afect oral function independent of the muscle state.

Poor oral health conditions are known to affect frailty in the older adults. Diabetes is a risk factor for both poor oral health and frailty, therefore, oral health status may affect frailty in diabetic patients more than in the general population. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the influence of oral health and other factors on frailty and the relationship among oral health, diabetes and frailty in older adult patients with type 2 diabetes.

Despite great improvements in global oral health status, dental caries still remain one of the most prevalent diseases. Yet some brands of toothpastes claim to be effective antimicrobial agents. This study was therefore designed to evaluate the in vitro antimicrobial activity of commercially available toothpastes against some microorganisms involved in tooth infections.

Increase in animal population has resulted in rise in animal bite cases and thus increase the potential for transmission of zoonotic diseases. That is why it is very important to consider some factors while considering the likelihood of disease transmission which includes species of animal, type of injury, severity of injury, vaccination status, interval between incident and treatment, and various attributes of the injured person (age, underlying health, etc.). It is also important to have knowledge about the natural oral flora of the animal.

This study was conducted on 28 end-stage renal disease children undergoing haemodialysis, aged 6–15 years (mean age, 11 years, 3 months) in the Pediatric Nephrology Unit of Zagazig University Hospital. The aims of the study were to monitor their oral health status, to analyse the salivary total antioxidants and protein levels and to clarify their relationship with the oral health status. The data were compared with that of a gender and age matched control group. Significantly higher prevalence of oral health parameters except debris accumulation, and lower caries prevalence, was revealed.

In connection with the global demand for safe human food and the production of environmentally friendly aquaculture products, acidifiers are natural organic acids and salts that have received considerable attention as animal-feed additives. The current study was designed to evaluate the effects of potassium diformate (KDF) on the growth performance and immunity of cultured Oreochromis niloticus (O. niloticus). Four iso-nitrogenous and iso-caloric rations containing graded levels of KDF, including 0% (control basal diet), 0.1%, 0.2% and 0.
