All the experiments are conducted at a constant engine speed (1500rpm) under the full load conditions of the engine and the results revealed that a considerable enhancement of brake thermal efficiency of the MWCNT’s than WFOME and SOME, combustion characteristics are changed when compared to neat diesel fuel and caused of biodiesel with MWCNT’s reduced in oxides of carbon (CO and CO2) unburnt hydrocarbons (UHC) oxides of nitrogen (NOX) emissions and smoke opacity.

This research utilized low cost feedstock of waste beef tallow for biodiesel synthesis and its application in a CI engine. The biodiesel and diesel blends B0, B20, B40, B60, B80 and B100 were used in a stationary tractor diesel engine. Performance and emission parameters brake specific fuel consumption (BSFC), brake thermal efficiency (BTE), exhaust gas temperature (EGT), carbon monoxide (CO), oxides of nitrogen (NOx) and hydrocarbon (HC) were tested at a constant speed of 2000 rpm and varying loads.

I was delighted to respond to an invitation from Ventus Publishing to write a book on atmospheric pollution. It is a topic well enough served by books in the past, but has become increasingly important during these early years of the 21st Century. I believe therefore that there is a place for a review like this one and that notwithstanding the immense activity in the area the book will have a reasonable shelf life. This is because it continually relates the discussion to the principles of physics and chemistry, and these do not change....

Ozone (O3) is a secondary pollutant formed in the atmosphere throughout a complex non-linear chemical reaction involving two classes of precursors: the reactive volatile organic compounds (VOCs) and the oxides of nitrogen (NOx) in the presence of sunlight. The rapid urbanization and industrialization in Vietnam have brought about high air pollutant emissions including the O3 precursors. Ground level O3 may already be high in large cities like Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City. The O3 episode is very important for scene of view of photochemical smog in Hanoi.

The principal pollutants from the transport sector responsible for adverse health effects include lead, various types of particulate matter, ozone (formed from atmospheric reactions of oxides of nitrogen [Nox] and volatile organic compounds [VOCs]), various toxic VOCs, nitrogen dioxide, carbon monoxide, ammonia and sulphur dioxide. However, the proportion of these various pollutants attributable to the transport sector varies significantly across different cities, as indicated by the table below.

Cytidine 5¢-triphosphate synthase catalyses the ATP-dependent formation of CTP from UTP using either ammonia orL-glutamine as the source of nitrogen. When glutamine is the substrate, GTP is required as an allosteric effector to promote catalysis. Limited trypsin-catalysed proteolysis, Edman degradation, and site-directed muta-genesis were used to identify peptide bonds C-terminal to three basic residues (Lys187, Arg429, and Lys432) of Escherichia coliCTP synthase thatwere highly susceptible to proteolysis. ...

According to the planning of cattle and poultry slaughterhouse and processing systemup towards 2020, Hanoi city approvedwith 10 planned industrial slaughterhouse sites and 34 planned semi-industrial slaughterhouse sites. The amount of slaughterhouse wastewater is calculated of about 2,300-6,100 m3 / day, excluding wastewater from small and uncontrolled slaughterhouses.

The energy requirement has increased exponentially over the past decades due to industrialization and the changes of subsequent lifestyle. Almost 90% of the present energy source is based on the combustion of fossil fuels. Diesel engines are considered the most ideal power generators in transportation and industrial sectors owing to their fuel economy and efficiency. However, they suffer from the disadvantages of exhaust pollutants particularly oxides of nitrogen (NOx), which are facing increasingly stringent emission regulations which led to the search for alternative technologies.

Nitrogen is one of the most important major limiting nutrients for most crops and other plant species. Nitrogen fertilizers affect the balance of the global nitrogen cycle, pollute groundwater and increase atmospheric nitrous oxide (N2O), a potent "greenhouse" gas. The production of nitrogen fertilizer by industrial nitrogen fixation not only depletes our finite reserves of fossil fuels but also generates large quantities of carbon dioxide, contributing to global warming

The power and torque were similar at low and medium speeds. However, at high speeds the power dropped with increase in DTPO in the blend. Fuel consumption was very comparable for all the test fuels. Carbon monoxide and unburned hydrocarbon was higher for the blends compared to diesel but oxides of Nitrogen were lower. Present results indicate that, diesel can be blended with up to 60% DTPO and produce acceptable performance.

Carbon nanotubes (CNTs) synthesized via chemical vapour deposition without hydrogen were oxidized with 0.1 M potassium permanganate at 40 OC for 2 hours. The material exhibits a high CuII adsorption capacity from the aqueous solution. X-ray diffraction (XRD), energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (EDS), scanning electron microscope (SEM), transmission electron microscope (TEM) and nitrogen adsorption/desorption isotherms were used to characterize the oxidized CNTs. After oxidizing, the obtained CNTs were used to remove CuII from the aqueous solution. With CuII initial concentration of 20 mg.

Hydrogen fuel cells are one of the most promising alternatives to internal combustion engine hybrids and pure battery electric power for propelling passenger vehicles. Compared to internal combustion engine hybrid vehicles burning hydrocarbon fuels, fuel cell vehicles offer three primary advantages. First, the fuel cell system produces no tank-to-wheel carbon dioxide emissions and no other harmful emissions such as oxides of nitrogen, carbon monoxide, or particulates. Second, the fuel cell system offers the potential for approximately 30% higher well-to-wheel energy efficiency.

Secondary aerosol is produced by the oxidation of primary gases (sulphur dioxide, SO2, nitrogen oxides, NOx, and volatile organic compounds, VOCs,) to sulphuric and nitric acid, and organic vapours, followed by their gas-particle conversion [26, 77]. Finally, some of these acidic gases can be neutralised by reaction with ammonia gas or calcium carbonate (calcite) forming secondary aerosol (ammonium sulphate, ammonium nitrate, calcium sulphate, calcium nitrate).

Applying much more phosphorus fertilizer and manure than crops can use builds up phosphorus in soil. After continuous over-fertilization, agricultural fields become a persistent reservoir for phosphorus that ends up polluting water bodies. Recent USGS study found that in the agricultural Midwest, many streams have their highest nitrogen concentrations in the spring, peaking in April-May.

Peroxyacyl nitrate (PAN) concentrations measured at a commercial site approximately 7 km north of the La Merced site were similar to those found in Los Angeles during the early 1970s. 16 PAN levels exceeded 30 ppb on five of the days sampled and exceeded 10 ppb on all but a few days of the study. 17 Although there is no air quality standard for PAN, high PAN concentrations are a good indicator of the organic oxidizing capacity of the urban air mass, since they are directly connected to organic peroxy radical formation and nitrogen dioxide (both ozone-forming precursors).
