The objectives of this dissertation are to study the asymptotic behavior of solutions of these nonlocal problems via the existence of (its finite dimensional) global attractors, and the existence and exponential stability of stationary solutions.

Research purposes: We consider some inverse source problems for parabolic equations, focus on three topics: First, we give stability estimates. Second, we propose regularization methods to solve these problems. Third, we set up algorithms and give numerical examples to illustrate the performance of the proposed regularization methods in this thesis.

For the complex parabolic Ginzburg-Landau equation, we prove that, asymptotically, vorticity evolves according to motion by mean curvature in Brakke’s weak formulation. The only assumption is a natural energy bound on the initial data. In some cases, we also prove convergence to enhanced motion in the sense of Ilmanen. Introduction In this paper we study the asymptotic analysis, as the parameter ε goes to zero, of the complex-valued parabolic Ginzburg-Landau equation for functions uε :

A MODIFIED QUASI-BOUNDARY VALUE METHOD FOR A CLASS OF ABSTRACT PARABOLIC ILL-POSED PROBLEMS M. DENCHE AND S. DJEZZAR Received 14 October 2004; Accepted 9 August 2005 We study a final value problem for first-order abstract differential equation with positive self-adjoint unbounded operator coefficient. This problem is ill-posed. Perturbing the final condition, we obtain an approximate nonlocal problem depending on a small parameter. We show that the approximate problems are well posed and that their solutions converge if and only if the original problem has a classical solution.

EIGENSTRUCTURE OF NONSELFADJOINT COMPLEX DISCRETE VECTOR STURM-LIOUVILLE PROBLEMS ´ RAFAEL J. VILLANUEVA AND LUCAS JODAR Received 15 March 2004 and in revised form 5 June 2004 We present a study of complex discrete vector Sturm-Liouville problems, where coefficients of the difference equation are complex numbers and the strongly coupled boundary conditions are nonselfadjoint. Moreover, eigenstructure, orthogonality, and eigenfunctions expansion are studied. Finally, an example is given. 1.
