This paper proposes a dead-time compensation method for 2-level voltage source inverters based on harmonic current controllers. The sixth harmonic of the stator current in the synchronous reference frame originated from the dead-time effect is attenuated by using current resonant controllers. The resonant controllers are connected in parallel with the conventional PI current regulator.

A communication circuit designer frequently requires means to select (or reject) a band of frequencies from a wide signal spectrum. Resonant circuits provide such ®ltering. There are well-developed, sophisticated methodologies to meet virtually any speci®cation. However, a simple circuit suf®ces in many cases. Further, resonant circuits are an integral part of the frequency-selective ampli®er as well as of the oscillator designs. These networks are also used for impedance transformation and matching.

Fixed beam arrays are usually either linear arrays or assemblies of linear arrays to make a planar array. Thus the linear array is a basic building block. When the array elements are in series along a transmission line, the array is termed “series.” Similarly, when the elements are in parallel with a feed line or network, the array is termed “shunt.” A further division of series feeds is into resonant or standing wave feeds, and travelling wave feeds. Shunt feeds are generally of corporate type, or distributed. Each of these types is discussed below. ...

Lowpass and Bandpass Filters Conventional microstrip lowpass and bandpass filters such as stepped-impedance filters, open-stub filters, semilumped element filters, end- and parallel-coupled half-wavelength resonator filters, hairpin-line filters, interdigital and combline filters, pseudocombline filters, and stub-line filters are widely used in many RF/microwave applications. It is the purpose of this chapter to present the designs of these filters with instructive design examples.

An optical resonator, the optical counterpart of an electronic resonant circuit, confines and stores light at certain resonance frequencies. It may be viewed as an optical transmission system incorporating feedback; light circulates or is repeatedly reflected within the system, without escaping. The simplest resonator comprises two parallel
