This paper investigated the petrological, elemental, and isotope geochemical characteristics of the Nam Meng dioritoid to clarify the magma source and process. The Nam Meng massif comprises large amounts of dioritoids (gabbro-diorite and quartz diorite) and lesser amounts of granitoids (granodiorite and granite). The Nam Meng gabbro-diorite is a porphyritic texture with fine-grained plagioclase, amphibole, K-feldspar, and phenocryst biotite.

In this study, a zinc(II) phthalocyanine compound (PcZn) substituted with octakis phenoxyacetamide was synthesized and characterized. Calf thymus DNA (CT-DNA) was used to determine the DNA binding properties of the zinc(II) phthalocyanine compound. This interaction of CT-DNA with PcZn was investigated using electronic absorption spectra, emission spectroscopy, a thermal melting temperature study, cyclic voltammetry, and viscosity measurements in a Tris-HCl buffer solution at a pH of 7.2.

Blends of polyphenylene oxide (PPO) and acrylonitrile butadiene styrene (ABS) were prepared by melt-mixing method. Flammability of these blends was studied by using UL-94 (plastics flammability standard) and LOI (limited oxygen index) tests. The results showed the role of PPO as flame retardant in the blends which can inhibit the burning process. All blends of PPO and ABS were graded as V-1 and LOI values were higher than 21. As a physical mixture, tensile strength of PPO/ABS blends maintained values between the tensile of neat ABS and PPO.

The approval of vemurafenib in the US 2011 and in Europe 2012 improved the therapy of not resectable or metastatic melanoma. Patients carrying a substitution of valine to glutamic acid at codon 600 (p.V600E) or a substitution of valine to leucine (p.V600K) in BRAF show complete or partial response.

The Toprakkale (Osmaniye) region, located in the Yumurtalık fault zone in southern Turkey, contains Quaternary volcanic rocks, shown by their mineralogical and petrographical features to be alkali basaltic and basanitic.

In the Gandom Beryan area, basanitic lava flows erupted from fractures in the Nayband fault zone and formed an area of about 300 km2 of basanitic rocks in the western part of the Lut Block. Olivine and clinopyroxene are the major phenocrysts in a microlitic groundmass for these basanitic rocks.

In this article, the petrological processes of the clinopyroxenite dykes and host peridotites occurring in Ulaş District (Sivas, mid-Anatolia, Turkey) are discussed. The new geochemical data from major minerals in the clinopyroxenite dykes and host harzburgites revealed differences to the supra-subduction zone (SSZ)-type pyroxenites and peridotites.

Melting parameter modeling shows the Nghia Dan melts generated from about 3 - 4% partial melting of a combined garnet- spinel- lherzolite source between a pressure range of 20 to 25 Kb (about 75 km deep). The parameters are consistent with the low SiO2 and high trace element, including the rare earth, contents in the Nghia Dan basalts. High FeO*, TiO2, CaO and Sr may also be a result of interaction with mafic components in the lithospheric mantle by the mantle-derived melts on the way to the surface.

The data were interpreted for source geochemical characteristics and geodynamic processes of the lithospheric mantle beneath the region. The peridotite xenoliths being mostly spinel-lherzolites in composition, are residual entities having been produced following partial melting events of ultramafic rocks in the asthenosphere. They are depleted in trace element abundance and Sr-Nd isotopic composition. Some are even more depleted as compared to mid-ocean ridge mantle xenoliths.

Asthenosphere A region of the earth’s upper mantle at a depth of approximately 75–150 km, characterized by low mechanical strength, attenuation of seismic shear waves, and partial melting. The term was coined in the 1910s by geologist Joseph Barrell to describe the zone in which isostatic adjustment occurs and basaltic magmas are generated. With the development of plate tectonics in the 1960s, the asthenosphere is now un- derstood as the plastic zone over which the rigid plates move....
