  • Ebook "Electron beams and microwave vacuum electronics" focuses on a fundamental feature of vacuum electronics: the strong interaction of the physics of electron beams and vacuum microwave electronics, including millimeter-wave electronics. The author guides readers from the roots of classical vacuum electronics to the most recent achievements in the field. Special attention is devoted to the physics and theory of relativistic beams and microwave devices, as well as the theory and applications of specific devices.

  • Analysis of changes in particle trajectories due to collision is essential to understanding the physical information such as energy or mass exchange during collisions between particles. Most of the research has studied particles with initial energies in a relatively uniform or gradient static energy landscape.

  • Fluorescence Nuclear Track Detectors (FNTDs) are part of a new technology developed for particle detection and applicable to personal neutron dosimetry. The objective of this study is to simulate the FNTD fast neutron response to: (i) assess and understand the performance of the existing neutron dosimeter design (Landauer Inc.) and its associated single layer track-spots analysis; and (ii) evaluate the potential information that can be obtained by the analysis of the 3D reconstructed recoil proton trajectories.

  • Single-cell gene expression measurements offer opportunities in deriving mechanistic understanding of complex diseases, including cancer. However, due to the complex regulatory machinery of the cell, gene regulatory network (GRN) model inference based on such data still manifests significant uncertainty.

  • This article presents an improvement to a mechanism for knee injury recovery. For this, the linear slider was changed for a curved slider to ensure movement through the desired trajectory for the knee and ankle. The Particle Swarm Optimization technique (PSO) was used. PSO is a meta-heuristic technique based on the social behavior of individuals within a group by analyzing their interrelationships.

  • Fly ash deposition is an important phenomenon associated with ash/slag handling and discharge in the entrained -flow coal gasification process. Fouling and slagging inside the gasifier may cause reliability and safety problems because they can impose strong negative effects on the gasifier wall in the way of heat transfer and chemical corrosion. For these reasons, this study focuses on investigating the ash deposition distribution inside of a two-stage entrained-flow gasifier.

  • Galactic cosmic rays are charged particles created in our galaxy and beyond. They propagate through interstellar space to eventually reach the heliosphere and Earth. Their transport in the heliosphere is subjected to four modulation processes: diffusion, convection, adiabatic energy changes and particle drifts. Time-dependent changes, caused by solar activity which varies from minimum to maximum every 11 years, are reflected in cosmic ray observations at and near Earth and along spacecraft trajectories.

  • The goal is to control the trajectory of the flight path of six degree of freedom flying body model using fractional PID. The design of fractional PID controller for the six degree of freedom flying body is described. The parameters of fractional PID controller are optimized by particle swarm optimization (PSO) method. In the optimization process, various objective functions were considered and investigated to reflect both improved dynamics of the missile system and reduced chattering in the control signal of the controller.

  • The systematical equations using to control the trapped particles in 3D space of acoustic-optical tweezers is introduced. The factors influencing on the position of trapped particles in 3D space is discussed. The trajectories of trapped particle under the different single tweezers are theoretically observed by the change of acoustic frequency.

  • In this paper, we numerically observed the trajectories of free bead in embedding fluid under the nonlinear optical tweezers using thin layer of Acid Blue 29 (NOTAB). Using the set of general Langevin equations describing motions of particles in trapping region, the influence of some parameters on free bead’s trajectories is investigated by the finite difference method.

  • The trajectory of particle beams can be obtained by using an active gas target, multiple-sampling and tracking proportional chamber (MSTPC), as a proportional counter. Because of intensity of low energy radioactive beam, in the stellar reaction such as (α, p), (p, α),. . . it is necessary to increase the gain for the counter. In this case, a gas electrons multiplier (GEM) foil will be used, so the proportional counter is called GEM-MSTPC.

  • The bandwidth demands made on any individual par- ticipant in each multicast tree are quite innocuous. For example, an RSS feed generating 4 KB/hour of updates will cause an interior tree node with 16 children to for- ward less than 20 bytes per second of outbound traffic. Due to the extremely low forwarding overhead, we be- lieve that the motivation for freeloading is very small. In the future, we expect richer content feeds, and con- sequently, the potential incentive for freeloading may increase.

  • The use of fluid microdrops in engineering and experimental science goes back over a century to the study and use of spray generated aerosols, and the use of aerosol produced microdrops to confirm the predictions of fluid mechanics, atomic theory and chemistry. The ability to generate fluid microdrops with a predetermined size, on demand, with precisely controlled trajectories is a more recent invention dating back only a few decades. Its primary commercial and industrial use today is in the field of inkjet image printing....
