Acute myeloid leukemia (AML), caused by the abnormal proliferation of immature myeloid cells in the blood or bone marrow, is one of the most common hematologic malignancies. Currently, the interactions between malignant myeloid cells and the immune microenvironment, especially T cells and B cells, remain poorly characterized.

Pediatric cancer is the leading cause of disease-related death in children and the need for better therapeutic options remains urgent. Due to the limited number of patients, target and drug development for pediatrics is often supplemented by data from studies focused on adult cancers. Recent evidence shows that pediatric cancers possess different vulnerabilities that should be explored independently from adult cancers.

Neuroblastoma (NB) is a childhood malignant tumor,50% of high-risk NB children still have recurrence, and the long-term survival rate is very low. NB tumors expressing high levels of BDNF/TrkB are associated with poor survival outcomes. In this study, we show that the trends of serum concentration of BDNF at different growth stages after birth, and explore the relationship with NB replase.

Malignant hyperthermia (MH) is an acute hypermetabolic crisis, triggered in susceptible patients by the administration of succinylcholine or a volatile anesthetic agent. When providing anesthetic care for MH-susceptible patients, a total intravenous anesthetic technique with propofol or other sedative hypnotic is frequently chosen.

Clear cell sarcoma of the kidney is an uncommon pediatric renal malignant neoplasm that is typically characterized in 2–3-year-olds by aggressive behavior and late relapses. Our literature review revealed fewer than ten previously reported cases of CCSK with inferior vena cava thrombus, with only five in the pediatric age group.

Pediatric adrenocortical tumors include both benign adenomas and highly virulent malignant tumors. However, they are very rare among children. The aim of this study is to evaluate the clinicopathological data of children presenting with adrenocortical tumors and assess their survival in a South Asian population.

Malignant hyperthermia is an extremely dangerous condition that can occur with exposure to volatile inhalant anesthetics and depolarizing muscle relaxants, and that requires immediate intervention. Neurological complications have rarely been reported, with no reports of electroencephalographic abnormalities or encephalopathy.

Atypical teratoid/rhabdoid tumor (AT/RT) is a malignant pediatric tumor of the central nervous system (CNS) with high recurrence and low survival rates that is often misdiagnosed. MicroRNAs (miRNAs) are involved in the tumorigenesis of numerous pediatric cancers, but their roles in AT/RT remain unclear

An increasing number of conditions appear to benefit from control and modulation of temperature, but available techniques to control temperature often have limitations, particularly in smaller patients with high surface to mass ratios. We aimed to evaluate a new method of temperature modulation with an esophageal heat transfer device in a pediatric swine model, hypothesizing that clinically significant modulation in temperature (both increases and decreases of more than 1°C) would be possible.

Adult T cell acute lymphoblastic leukemia (T-ALL) is a rare disease that affects less than 10 individuals in one million. It has been less studied than its cognate pediatric malignancy, which is more prevalent.

Medulloblastoma (MB) is the most common malignant pediatric brain tumor that originates in the cerebellum and brainstem. Frequent somatic mutations and deregulated expression of epigenetic regulators in MB highlight the substantial role of epigenetic alterations.

Currently, no available coherent management protocol exists for pediatric cancers associated with pleural effusion, ascites, and pericardial efusion. This study aimed to retrospectively present our experience in treating pediatric cancer patients with pleural effusion, ascites, and pericardial efusion using interleukin-2 (IL-2) and dexa‑ methasone (DEX) intracavitary injections.

NUT carcinoma (NC), previously known as NUT midline carcinoma, is a rare and very aggressive cancer that occurs in both children and adults. NC is largely chemoresistant, with an overall survival of less than 7 months. Because the carcinoma is not restricted to a particular organ, diagnosis is often a challenge.

Mesenchymal chondrosarcoma (MCS) is a rare malignant variant of chondrosarcoma with a high tendency of recurrence and metastasis. Intradural extramedullary spinal MCS is exceedingly rare and usually found in pediatric patients. Herein, we present an elderly patient with primary intradural extramedullary spinal MCS.

Acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL) represent about 77% of leukemia in children and it is one of the most common malignancies in children. Bone Sialoprotein-1 is a tumor – associated antigen that is highly expressed in many malignancies in human. This study was aimed to study the role of Bone Sialoprotein-1 and its receptors CD44 variant 6 in children’s with acute lymphoblastic Leukemia in Tanta University Hospital. This study was carried out in hematology unit, pediatric department and clinical pathology department, Tanta university hospital, Egypt.

High-grade (WHO grade III and IV) astrocytomas are aggressive malignant brain tumors affecting humans with a high risk of recurrence in both children and adults. To date, limited information is available on the genetic and molecular alterations important in the onset and progression of pediatric high-grade astrocytomas and, even less, on the prognostic factors that influence long-term outcome in children with recurrence.

There is currently no active surveillance of metastatic and non-malignant brain tumours in Canada as well as data on the health service use of children and youth with brain tumours. The objective of this study was to identify pediatric primary, metastatic, benign, and unspecified brain tumours in Ontario, Canada and to describe their health service use from a population based perspective.
