Dengue fever is an acute febrile infectious disease, caused by any of four serotypes. Severe dengue infections may give rise to many complications such as liver failure, disseminated intravascular coagulation, encephalopathy, myocarditis, acute renal failure and haemolytic uraemic syndrome. ST segment and T wave changes in the electrocardiogram together with low ejection fraction and global hypokinesia on radionuclide ventriculography have been found. Hence, this study was intended to assess the cardiac manifestations in dengue fever patients.

This case follows a 14-month-old female, who despite multiple presentations to several physicians, continued to have recurrent febrile episodes with gross motor delay. Her case revealed an often missed diagnosis of Mevalonate Kinase Deficiency, that now has an FDA approved treatment that both reduces recurrence and produces remission.

Clinical Manifestations Pharyngitis Although seen in patients of all ages, GAS pharyngitis is one of the most common bacterial infections of childhood, accounting for 20–40% of all cases of exudative pharyngitis in children; it is rare among those under the age of 3. Younger children may manifest streptococcal infection with a syndrome of fever, malaise, and lymphadenopathy without exudative pharyngitis. Infection is acquired through contact with another individual carrying the organism.
