Physical properties of paddy

Physicochemical test relies on the chemical composition of rice, viz cooking quality, gelatinization temperature and physical properties. To evaluate the milling characteristics of 10 different paddy genotypes were taken. All genotypes had different dimensions, the average length varied from 8.77 to 9.88 mm, average width varied from 2.02 to 3.09 mm, Average test weight varied from 27.12 to 30.19g, Bulk density and true density varied from 0.59 to 0.68 g/ml3 and 1.12 to 1.44 g/ml3 , Angle of repose 29.37 to 32.45 respectively.

An experiment was conducted during rabi season 2016-17 in dark room on crop research farm of department of Soil Science and Agricultural Chemistry, Naini Agricultural Institute, SHUATS Allahabad. The experiment was laid out in Randomized Block Design with an objective of to study the growth, yield and nutrition content of mushroom with physical and chemical properties of soil which was used as growing of mushroom. There was 14 treatments combination replicated thrice. The different treatments were allocated randomly in each replication.

Knowledge on physical properties of seeds is one of the most important parameter before designing of agricultural machines or any other equipment. The variety of paddy seeds taken for the study was Karma Missouri and shape was cylindrical while variety of fertilizer taken for study was DAP granules and shape was round. The research work was carried out in the laboratory at the Department of Farm Machinery and Power, SVCAET&RS, IGKV, Raipur.

A long term experiment on paddy for eleven years ( 2005-06 to 2016-17) was conducted on a clayey textured Vertisol at Agricultural Research Station, Gangavati, UAS, Raichur to compare the influence of organic and conventional farming systems on soil physical, chemical and biological properties of soil with the following treatments viz., T1: 100 % N through organics, T2: 75 % N through organics,T3: Integrated N management (50 % N through organics & 50 % N through organics), T4: 100 % N through inorganics along with FYM @ 7 t/ha, T5: 100 % RDF (150: 75:75 kg/ha).

Designing the equipment for processing, sorting, sizing and other post-harvesting equipment of agricultural products requires information about their physical properties. The objective of this work was to determine some of the physical properties of three different type of rice variety which may influence the rice processing operations. In this study, various physical properties of rough rice variety were determined at a moisture content of about 12% (dry basis).
