  • This work reports the synthesis and properties of a new membrane based on polyvinyl chloride (PVC) grafting with polyacrylic acid (PAA) using argon (Ar) plasma. The membranes of PVC were synthesized by solutioncasting method, where PAA was deposited as an ultrathin film onto PVC using dielectric barrier discharge at atmospheric pressure with Ar gas. The surface characteristics and chemical composition of the modified membranes were analyzed by water contact angle, scanning electron microscopy, and Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy.

  • This paper assessed impact of dilution on the microstructure and properties of the Ni alloy In 625 deposited by Plasma Transferred Arc (PTA) on two substrates: carbon steel API 5LX70 (API 5L) and stainless steel AISI 316L. Differences due to the interaction with the substrate were maximized analyzing single layer coatings, processed with three deposition current: 120 A, 150 A and 180 A. Dilution was determined by the area ratio and Vickers hardness measured on the transverse section of coatings.

  • This paper assessed influence of dilution on the microstructure, mechanical properties and microhardness of a cobalt-based alloy deposited by plasma transferred arc (PTA) on three steel substrates. Dilution was analyzed by energy dispersive spectroscopy (EDS). Microstructure was analyzed by the optical microscopy (OM) and scanning electron microscopy (SEM). Microhardness measured on the scross section of coatings. Analysis results show that, the dilution ratio, microstructure and microhardness of the coating influenced by the welding parameters and substrates.

  • A new host phosphors of LaSr2AlO5 doped with Ce and Eu was synthesized using a solid-state reaction method and the synthesis conditions were investigated. The samples were characterized by X-ray diffraction, scanning electron microscopy, photoluminescent (PL) and photoluminescent excitation (PLE) spectra. LaSr2AlO5:Ce shows a yellow emission at about 570 nm after an excitation at about 450 nm while LaSr2AlO5:Eu presents a red emission.

  • The present study was envisaged to check the physico-chemical properties of effluents being treated at CETPs and to isolate indigenous heavy metal tolerant bacteria for their subsequent utilization for heavy metal uptake. Effluent samples were collected from two CETPs located in Ludhiana and Jalandhar and were analyzed for their physico-chemical parameters (dissolved oxygen (DO), biological oxygen demand (BOD), chemical oxygen demand (COD) and pH) and heavy metal profile using Inductively Coupled Argon Plasma-Emission Spectroscopy (ICAP-AES).
