Plasmon absorption

We describe the synthesis, characterization and catalytic properties of a series of hybrid materials composed of inorganic plasmonic mono- and bimetallic nanoparticles supported on organic bio-based hydrogel beads. The bimetallic materials showed a localized surface plasmon resonance in the visible region, with a maximum light absorption correlated to the metal composition of the alloyed systems.

This paper outlines the synthesis of the glass/FTO/Au/ and of the glass/FTO/Si/Au/ multilayers and some obtained experimental results. Based on the measured results we observed that the structure of the sputtered Si layer is an amorphous phase meanwhile the structure of the sputtered Au layer is a crystallized phase.

The presence of plasmon peak presents around the wavelength of 520nm and an absorption edge with a wavelength less than 450nm on the absorption spectrum reconfirmed the presence of Cu and Cu2O nanoparticles. The cyclic voltammetry measurement was used to study the ethanol oxidation activities of samples. It was found that Cu/Cu2O nanoparticle could catalyze ethanol oxidation in alkali medium.

In this paper, the gold nanorods (GNRs) were synthesized via a seed-mediated method by using 1-3 nm seeds-in diameter and gold atoms created from the reduced Au3+ ions by ascorbic acid (AA) in the presence of cetyltrimethyl ammonnium bromide (CTAB) as a soft template. The aspect ratio of GNRs as well as growth yield were controlled by adjusting the concentration of Ag+ ions.

Currently a popular area in nanomedicine is the implementation of plasmonic gold nanoparticles for cancer diagnosis and photothermal therapy, attributed to the intriguing optical properties of the nanoparticles. The surface plasmon resonance, a unique phenomenon to plasmonic (noble metal) nanoparticles leads to strong electromagnetic fields on the particle surface and consequently enhances all the radiative properties such as absorption and scattering. Additionally, the strongly absorbed light is converted to heat quickly via a series of nonradiative processes.

The 2D arrays of Cu NDs were fabricated in high quality. Morphology of the substrates was observed by scanning electron microscopy. Surface plasmon resonance absorption was observed with different peaks in the range of 400-1400nm wavelengths that means the substrate is promising for SERS application. The Raman spectrum of Rhodamine 6G loaded on AAO substrates was much enhanced.
