The parental genotype P2 recorded the highest number of branches per plant (7.85 and 6.94 branches) under well watered and rainfed treatments, respectively. While, the two crosses; P2 · P4 and P2 · P6 recorded the highest number of pods per plant in both generations under well watered and rainfed treatments.

Yield in chickpea is influenced by many different components including number of primary branches per plant, number of secondary branches per plant, number of pods per plant, number of seeds per pod, seed yield per plant and many other traits. All of these traits can potentially be improved through selection as long as there is sufficient genetic variation.

The present study entitled “Genetic Divergence in Black gram [Vigna mungo (L.) Hepper]” was conducted with 56 genotypes and two checks namely Pant U-31 and Pratap Urd-1during Kharif- 2019 at the Experimental farm, RCA, MPUAT, Udaipur. The genotypes were planted in augmented RBD design in four blocks. Mean squares due to genotypes were significant for plant height, number of branches per plant, number of pods per plant and pod length out of twelve characters as divulge from ANOVA.

Correlation and path analysis was worked out among thirty chickpea genotypes with three replications under both rainfed and irrigated conditions utilising yield, drought tolerant traits and mechanical harvestable traits during rabi, 2018 at Regional Agricultural Research Station, Nandyal, Andhra Pradesh, India. Biological yield per plot and harvest index exhibited significant positive correlation with seed yield and drought tolerance index. 100 seed weight and number of pods per plant also contributed positively to DTI and seed yield under rainfed conditions.

Thirty mungbean genotypes were evaluated for the estimation of genetic variability, heritability, genetic advance, correlation coefficient, and path coefficient analysis for yield and its component traits. A considerable amount of genetic variability was observed among all the genotypes for all the characters under study. GCV & PCV were highest for seed yield per plant, followed by harvest index, biological yield and number of pods per plant.

The pod yield was significantly and positively correlated with pod weight, pod girth, pericarp thickness, seed weight per pod, number of pods per plant and weight of 100 seeds. The path coefficient analysis using the phenotypic correlation coefficient among the pair of characters showed that number of pods per plant had the highest positive direct effect on yield. At last it could be concluded that PSM-3 and PSM5 are best performing varieties for this region according to green pod yield.

Forty five cluster bean genotypes (Cyamopsis tetragonoloba (L.) Taub) were evaluated to find out the correlation and path analysis for vegetable pod yield and yield attributes during kharif 2018 at College of Horticulture, Anantharajupeta, Andhra Pradesh. Character association of the yield attributing traits revealed that fresh pod yield per plant had highly significant and positive association with pod length, number of pods per plant, number of pods per cluster, number of pod clusters per plant and number of branches per plant at maturity.

The present investigation was undertaken to find out interrelationships among different traits and their direct and indirect contribution towards seed yield. Seed yield per plant showed significant positive correlation with pods per plant, pod length, seeds per pod, branches per plant, seed size and pod yield per plant at both phenotypic and genotypic levels while with nodes per plant, plant height, 100-seed weight and harvest index at genotypic level only.

A field experiment was conducted at Agronomy Farm, S.K.N. College of Agriculture, Jobner (Jaipur) during kharif season 2012. The results revealed that application of vermicompost @ 6.0 t/ha gave significantly higher yield attributing characters (Number of pods per plant and Number of seeds per pod) and further application of Rhizobium + PSB recorded significantly higher yield attributing characters (Number of pods per plant and Number of seeds per pod) over control, but both are treatments did not significantly effect of test weight.
