Multimorbidity is defined as the co-occurrence of multiple chronic or acute diseases and medical conditions in the same individual and can be grouped into different patterns based on the type of disease. These patterns are associated with poorer quality of life and premature death. It is believed that these patterns entail functional limitations, which may contribute to the fear of falling; however, this association remains unknown.

In the early stages of my work on crime, I was puzzled by why theft is socially harmful since it appears merely to redistribute resources, usually from wealthier to poorer individuals. Health Disparities Across the continent, significant health disparities exist. In Canada, Aboriginal children rank with many children in the developing world on several key indicators, including infant mortality and injury deaths. In Mexico, children living in rural and indigenous communities experience worse health outcomes than those who live in cities. And, in the United States, children of color suffer poorer health on a number of indicators. Children’s health and security demand our attention.

Clearly there is not enough training. National and local governments should start paying more attention to training needs and budgets, be- cause the bilateral and the multilateral agencies cannot keep supporting training at the current rate. National budgets have to start allocating resources for training. There are some management issues. A demand-driven approach may reduce funding for poorer communities, because they are often the ones least able to develop their own projects.
