Utilization of such spent hen meat is a big challenge to modify into potential palatable value-added products. The study is based on time series data pertaining to the period 1996-2013. The data on value of exports/imports for India and world were collected from FAOSTAT database. The data was analysed using simple descriptive statistical tools. Simpson diversification index was used to measure the export import diversity and export performance ratio were calculated to find out the comparative advantage.

Poultry industry is one of the fastest growing markets. The poultry industry produces large amounts of solid waste. There are many different waste management options for poultry waste including land application of litter as an organic fertilizer, feed for livestock, biogas production, products for commercial purposes. Poultry wastes are posing serious environmental pollution problems, through offensive odours and promotion of fly and rodent breeding. The appropriate utilization of its waste or by-products increases the monetary output and protects from its unwanted side-effects.

This study employed a cross sectional research mode and designed a survey to collect data from poultry production units in Indonesia. Results reveal that due to suppliers’ involvement and integrating product modularity make a significant positive effect on poultry business performance.

Backyard poultry farming has been recognized as an effective tool for poverty alleviation in the rural families of Punjab. The level of monthly income from backyard poultry is sufficient for livelihood (20-25 birds) and an important source of supplementing earnings. It provides eggs and meat for family consumption and to some extent cash income to the family. It enhances rural livelihoods with minimum expenditure and stimulates economic growth of resource poor households in rural areas.

Keeping poultry makes a substantial contribution to household food security throughout the developing world. It helps diversify incomes and provides quality food, energy, fertilizer and a renewable asset in over 80 percent of rural households. Small-scale producers are however constrained by poor access to markets, goods and services; they have weak institutions and lack skills, knowledge and appropriate technologies. The result is that both production and productivity remain well below potential and losses and wastage can be high.
