Pragmatism’s influences

The aim of this thesis is to identify leadership literacies for professional staff working in universities. The rationale for this inquiry, at its heart, is about individuals and their capacity to change and influence wider groupings, be they leaders or followers within knowledge-intensive enterprises. The overarching drivers of this thesis are the interrelationships between leadership, language, literacies and learning as the means to make these cognitive shifts.

The article clarifies the conception of American way of life, influences of pragmatism on it and some of its manifestations, thereby showing two-sided effects on the development of the United States as a basis for applying and acquiring their values, as well as overcoming their limitations in our country nowadays.

This study provides some insights into the use of speech acts by Vietnamese EFL learners from a cross-cultural perspective. It is suggested that the influence of culture has resulted in students’ common failures to understand and perform English speech acts. To minimize this kind of pragmatic failure, it is recommended that EFL teachers raise students’ awareness of some cultural issues in cross-cultural communication. Furthermore, it is necessary to incorporate speech acts into English language teaching with authentic input and lifelike communicative activities.
