Neonatal infection is a common disease in neonates and which is one of the four leading causes of infant mortality. Objective: To investigate the rate of neonatal infection and risk factors for infections of live infants born in mothers with premature rupture of membranes at Tu Du Hospital.

The goal of this study is to quantify the health-economic impacts of PM2.5 pollution for a specific province - Long An province in Vietnam using the EnHEBIS (Environment, Public Health, and Economic Benefit Management Support Integrated System) software package. The study outcomes showed that significant health and economic effects could occur in areas with high PM2.5 concentrations and dense population concentrations.

Chronic limb-threatening ischemia (CLTI), a severe manifestation of peripheral arterial disease (PAD), is associated with a 1-year limb amputation rate of approximately 15–20% and substantial mortality. A key feature of CLTI is the compromised regenerative ability of skeletal muscle; however, the mechanisms responsible for this impairment are not yet fully understood.

Diabetes mellitus (DM), a group of chronic metabolic disorders characterized by hyperglycemia resulting from defects in insulin action and/or insulin secretion. It represents one of the main contributors to ill health and premature mortality worldwide and its prevalence has been rising during the last decades.

Aortic disease has a high mortality rate, especially when complications include - hemoptysis. Treatment includes surgery and endovascular intervention with its own advantages and disadvantages. Endovascular intervention is associated with good early and medium-term outcomes.

Preterm premature rupture of membranes is defined as rupture of membranes before the onset of labor with the gestational age < 37 weeks. Preterm premature rupture of membranes is associated with 10% of the perinatal mortality, particularly associated with respiratory distress syndrome and neonatal infection. The study aims to assess the outcome of maternal and fetal outcome in preterm premature rupture of membranes.

Prematurity and respiratory distress syndrome (RDS) are strongly associated. RDS continues to be an important contributor to neonatal mortality in low- and middle-income countries. This study aimed to identify clusters of preterm live births and RDS-associated neonatal deaths, and their cooccurrence pattern in São Paulo State, Brazil, between 2004 and 2015.

Bovine Viral Diarrhea virus (BVDV) is one of important diseases of cattle worldwide causing economic losses to the cattle industry primarily due to increased premature culling and decreased reproductive performance. The virus can cross the placenta during early pregnancy and result in the birth of persistently infected (PI) calves that are efficient transmitters of BVDV and serving as the primary reservoirs for BVDV.

Bronchopulmonary dysplasia (BPD) is a major cause of mortality and morbidity in premature infants, characterized by alveolar dysplasia and pulmonary microvascular remodeling. In the present study, we have investigated the functional roles of ubiquitin proteasome pathway (UPP) in BPD, and its relationship with endoplasmic reticulum stress (ERS) mediated type II alveolar epithelial cell (AECII) apoptosis.

Rheumatoid Factors (RF) are antibodies directed against the Fc portion of IgG and are involved in clearance of immune complexes. While RF can develop in a wide range of conditions, higher RF levels indicate a greater risk for a severe disease course in Rheumatoid Arthritis (RA) patients including cardiovascular complications and premature death.

Most measures of the cancer burden take a public health perspective. Cancer also has a significant economic impact on society. To assess this economic burden, we estimated years of potential productive life lost (YPPLL) and costs of lost productivity due to premature cancer-related mortality in Ireland.

When individuals stop working due to cancer this represents a loss to society – the loss of productivity. The aim of this analysis was to estimate productivity losses associated with premature mortality from all adult cancers and from the 20 highest mortality adult cancers in Ireland in 2011, and project these losses until 2030.

The present study was conducted to determine the trend and projection of premature mortality from gastrointestinal cancers (GI cancers) at national and subnational levels in Iran. Methods: Employing the data obtained from Iranian Death Registry System (DRS) and population data from census, the mortality rates of GI cancers was calculated among 30–70 age groups.

Urinary tract infection is one of the most frequently seen medical complications in pregnancy. Related to it further a number of complications such as acute and chronic pyelonephritis, hypertension, prematurity, intrauterine growth retardation and increased perinatal mortality. The detection of bacteriuria allows an approach to be made for the prevention of complications in pregnancy at an early stage. In view of the above, the present study was under taken with an aim to detect asymptomatic bacteriuria in pregnancy. Two hundred antenatal women were included in the study.

Colorectal cancer (CRC) is an illness strongly influenced by sex and gender, with mortality rates in males significantly higher than females. There is still a dearth of understanding on where sex differences exist along the pathway from presentation to survival.

Urinary tract infection (UTI) is the most common human bacterial infection in the community as well as in hospital settings (Vijaya Swetha et al., 2014). Urinary tract infection during pregnancy may cause complications such as pyelonephritis, hypertensive disease of pregnancy, anaemia, chronic renal failure, premature delivery and foetal mortality (Moyo et al., 2010).

Necrotizing enterocolitis (NEC) is associated with significant morbidity and mortality. Serum biomarkers to aid diagnosis, such as intestinal fatty acid binding protein (IFABP) and calprotectin, are actively being investigated; however, the normative values of these markers among healthy premature and term infants remains unknown.

Lung surfactant plays a key role in adequate pulmonary function throughout life. Since Surfactant replacement therapy has been introduced in 1980s, it has proven its effect in premature neonates with surfactant deficiency. Since surfactant therapy is important in various respiratory conditions in premature neonates, this proposed study reviews the incidence, outcome & their clinical issues in surfactant replacement therapy. The objective of the study is to assess the outcome of surfactant therapy in premature neonates, to find out the length of hospital stay.

Hyperglycemia often occurs in premature, very low birthweight infants (VLBW) due to immaturity of endogenous regulatory systems and the stress of their condition. Hyperglycemia in neonates has been linked to increased morbidities and mortality and occurs at increasing rates with decreasing birthweight.
