Soil salinity threatens the yield and food security worldwide and use of halophytes might be a valid option to cope with devastating salinity effects. The present investigation was accomplished to evaluate the role of glycine betaine (GB) as presowing seed treatment on growth parameters, photosynthetic pigments, gas exchange attributes, enzymatic antioxidants, lipid peroxidation (MDA), hydrogen peroxide (H2 O2 ), endogenous GB, total soluble proteins (TSP), and yield in quinoa (Chenopodium quinoa) under saline conditions.

Studies on evaluation of the influence of seed fortification with inorganic nutrients as pre-sowing seed management technique expressed that KH2PO4 and KCl at 1 per cent among the nutrients (MgSO4, MnSO4, ZnSO4, FeSO4, borax) were highly suitable for invigourating the seed and seedling quality characters. The seeds were fortified in the respective solution for a duration of 16 h with equal volume of seed to solution ratio.

Pinus gerardiana is commonly called ―Chilgoza Pine‖ which yields small edible seeds. The pine is a vital ecological and economic forestry species having restricted distribution in India. It’s mostly found in two districts of Himachal Pradesh. It’s been observed that the natural regeneration of the species is extremely poor or entirely lacking. This species has erratic and infrequent seed years and dormancy related problems that also reduce the regeneration process in natural habitats.

The experiment was conducted to characterize the fruit morphological parameters and to study the effect of different pre-sowing treatment on seeds of wild edible fruit tree Phoebe cooperiana U.N Kanjilal ex A. Das. of Arunachal Pradesh. Fruit and seed morphological parameters were based on 100 fruits collected from Lower Dibang district of Arunachal Pradesh. Eight pre-sowing treatments in three replications were given to the seeds before sowing at Department of Tree Improvement nursery, College of Horticulture and Forestry, Pasighat, Arunachal Pradesh.

The response of mustard (Brassica juncea (L.) Czern & Coss cv. Varuna) to presowing seed treatment with sodium chloride (NaCl) was investigated. The plants raised from treated seeds were sprayed with water or 10-6 M GA3 at the 30- day stage. The seeds imbibed in 1 or 10 mM of NaCl resulted in a decrease in dry mass, leaf chlorophyll content.
