  • Weed is a plant growing where it is not desired so weeds are ubiquitous. The vegetable fields are usually infested by a wide spectrum of broad and grassy weeds. Weeds compete with the crops for water, soil, nutrients, light, space and crop yields are significantly reduced as reported by several studies. The vegetable as well as agricultural crops are infested with a variety of weeds. Out of over 800 weeds documented in India, 80 are considered as serious and nearly 200 as major weeds. They also harbour many insect-pests and microorganisms.

  • Urban sprawl is an international phenomenon happening principally in quickly developing areas. A study on the spatiotemporal features of urban sprawl is useful for the sustainable land management, landscape and urban land planning. The present research explores the trends, types and changes of landscape of urban sprawl in the context of a rapid urbanization process in Pleiku city and in the Central Highland of Viet Nam from 2000 to 2019. The results show the expansion of the Pleiku city has witnessed a fluctuation in its land uses through two decades.

  • The agricultural sector faces daunting challenges because of climate change, particularly amidst increasing global water scarcity, which threatens irrigated lowland rice production. By 2025, 15-20 million ha of irrigated rice is estimated to suffer from some degree of scarcity. Rice systems provide a major source of calories for more than half of the world‟s population; however, they also use more water than other major crops. Irrigated lowland rice not only consumes more water but also causes wastage of water resulting in degradation of land.

  • This study determined the effects of seasonality on air pollution in a tropical city of Southern Nigeria. This was with a view to acquiring data that would be useful in policy formulation and planning for proper management of ailments that result from seasonal variation of air pollution in the study area. Sampling for the study covered a peri od of six months, between mid-October 2013 and mid-April 2014. Air pollutants, taken into consideration, include particulate matter (PM 0.3, 0.5, 1.0, 2.5, 5.0 and 10µm) and carbon monoxide (CO).
