In this paper, a topology incorporating the DC-link type quasi-switched boost network with the traditional three-level neutral point clamped inverter is presented. The third harmonic injection method is proposed to provide some benefits such as: enhancing the modulation index or improving the voltage gain.

This paper presents a simple carrier based PWM technique to control a hybrid multilevel inverter. A conventional 3-level NPC inverter and 2-level inverter are connected in series to supply an open-end winding three phase load. Proposed PWM method is then verified in steady state and dynamic transient phenomena using MATLAB simulation program.

This paper presents a new control strategy to reduce the fluctuation of DC bus voltage for a backto-back PWM converter in a DFIG wind turbine systems. DC-link voltage Feed-forward compensation control strategy for DFIG’s RSC and GSC converter is proposed to limit the fluctuation range of the dclink voltage. The dynamic performances of the DFIG are compared with the traditional control method.

In order to optimize the electric energy quality of HVDC access point, a modular multilevel selective harmonic elimination pulse-width modulation (MSHE-PWM) method is proposed. On the basis of keeping the minimum action frequency of the power device, MSHE-PWM method can meet the requirement for accurately eliminating low-order harmonics in the output PWM waveform.
