  • Indian jujube or ber (Ziziphus mauritiana Lamk.) is one of the most common fruit of Rajasthan as well as India. Powdery mildew of ber incited by Oidium erysiphoides f. sp. ziziphi, Yan and Wang is the most important disease that causes maximum reduction in yield and quality of ber fruits. An increase in total phenols and decline in total soluble solids and ascorbic acid content were observed in fruits of infected plants at peanut and immature stages with Oidium erysiphoides f. sp. ziziphi compared to the healthy ones.

  • The maximum retention of fruit quality attributes were recorded in SA (600 ppm) TSS, acidity, Vitamin C and total sugar which was followed propyl galalte (450 ppm) treated fruits. Both TSS, ascorbic acid and total sugar showed similar trends of increase up to 6th days of storage followed by a decrease. However, acidity decreased continuously with enhancement of storage period. At the end of the storage, maximum TSS, total acidity, ascorbic acid and total sugars were noted under salicylic acid (600 ppm) treated fruits, followed by fruits treated with propyl gallate (450 ppm).

  • Ber can provide food security, due to sustained production of the fruit in even degraded lands. It is highly nutritive which untapped source of nutrition. It is an ideal fruit for arid and semiarid regions and tropical and subtropical climate where most of the fruits cannot be grown.

  • Highly perishable postharvest life of ber fruit is major hindrance towards long storage. Exogenous treatments are essential for delayed or inhibited physiological degrading process which curbs the fruit quality. Hence, a study was designed to evaluate the oxalic acid (OA) treatments effectivity on ber fruit cv. „Gola‟ during storage. Prior to storage fruits were subjected to 10 min dipping in aqueous solution of oxalic acid at different concentrations (2 mM, 4 mM, 6 mM, 8 mM and 10 mM).

  • The experiment was conducted at the Instructional cum Research Fruit Orchard, College of Horticulture, Mandsaur (M.P.), Department of Fruit Science, Rajmata Vijayaraje Scindia Krishi Vishwa Vidyalaya, Gwalior (M.P.). The experiment comprised 13 treatments of foliar spray of ZnSO4, KNO3 and NAA and control, first foliar spray of growth regulator and micronutrient (ZnSo4 and KNO3) on crop was done on 15th October, 2014 and same spray was repeated after 30 days of the first spray with three replications and data analyzed in Randomized Block Design (RBD).

  • Apple ber (Zizyphus mauritiana) is a Thailand variety ber belongs to the family Rhamnaceae. Apple ber is developed by grafting Thailand green apple with Thai local ber. In the studies conducted on effect of surface coatings and packaging materials on quality of Apple ber (Zizyphus mauritiana) at different storage conditions at College of Horticulture- Rajendranagar, SKLTSHU, Rajendranagar.

  • The present study was conducted with objective to know the effect of different pruning intensity and plant growth regulators on yield and quality of Gola cultivar. The present was comprised four different pruning intensity of previous season growth viz., P0 – no pruning, P1- 25 % pruning, P2- 50 % pruning, P3- 75 % pruning and plant growth regulators viz., C0- control, C1- GA3 @ 10 ppm and C2- NAA @10 ppm. Significantly higher fruit weight (23.69 g) has been recorded with 75% pruning intensity + NAA 10ppm followed by 75% pruning intensity + GA₃ 10 ppm and least being in control.
