Quercus cerris

In this study, we utilize the genome-wide singlenucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) data obtained through Multiplexed Inter Simple Sequence Repeat Genotyping by sequencing (MIG-seq) to explore the phylogenetic relationships among Quercus species in Vietnam. The results of this study reveal that all Quercus species in Vietnam belong to subgenus Cerris and the phylogenetic analysis strongly supports the recognition of two infrageneric sections: Quercus and Ilex section for the Vietnamese Quercus.

The macrofungi collected from the Türkmenbaba mountain area in 2001-2003 were investigated. As a result of field and laboratory studies, 84 taxa belonging to 30 families were identified. Seven species belong to the class Ascomycetes and 77 species to Basidiomycetes. Seven of these taxa are new records for the Turkish macromycota.

Two new varieties, Ctenidium molluscum (Hedw.) Mitt. var. condensatum (Schimp.) Britt. and Ctenidium molluscum (Hedw.) Mitt. var. robustum Boul. collected from the western Black Sea region were determined to be new records for the moss flora of Turkey.

The flora of Ahirdagi was investigated between 1996 and 2000. In the vegetation periods, a total of 965 plant specimens were collected. At the end of the study 603 taxa at species and subspecies ranks belonging to 299 genera and 80 families had been determined.

This study was carried out on 2 permanent plots of Quercus cerris L. var. cerris woodland in the Kurupelit region of Samsun, northern Turkey. Grime’s CSR strategies were determined for 85 plant species from the 2 study plots (61 and 50 species from plot 1 and plot 2, respectively) according to the method that was applied.

The present study aimed to provide detailed anatomical characterisation of the bark of this species, which is necessary to assess its potential. The anatomical studies were conducted on the bark samples of nine 70- to 80- year-old trees growing in 3 sites of Andırın district from Kahramanmaraş province in Turkey.

The majority of the lichen species were hygrophytic and mesophytic. In addition, nitrophytic species were more frequently observed than acidophytes. Temperate and suboceanic species were the most common.

These findings suggested that the Q. cerris and Q. robur seedlings showed a drought stress adaptive mechanism either by restricting their growth or increasing root: Shoot ratio or by decreasing water loss (reduced stomatal conductance) and accumulating of osmotic solutes.
