Our findings demonstrate the presence of distinct metabolites in the serum of gastric cancer patients compared to healthy individuals. Lysophosphatidic acid, triglycerides, lysine, sphingosine1-phosphate, phosphatidylcholine, oxidized ceramide, and phosphatidylglycerol hold potential as biomarkers for evaluating postoperative efficacy and monitoring recurrence in gastric cancer patients.

Although radical surgical resection is the most effective treatment for hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC), the high rate of postoperative recurrence remains a major challenge, especially in patients with alpha-fetoprotein (AFP)-negative HCC who lack effective biomarkers for postoperative recurrence surveillance. In this study, we propose to develop a radiomics model based on preoperative CECT to predict the risk of early recurrence after surgery in AFP-negative HCC.

This paper addresses the challenge of fault detection in Wireless Sensor Networks (WSNs), commonly used in fields like environmental monitoring and healthcare. WSNs, prone to various faults due to their deployment in unpredictable environments, require effective solutions for fault detection. Traditional machine learning approaches show limitations such as unsuitability for streaming data and the detection of a single fault type.

Progress in sensitive analytical approaches has opened new avenues for the detection of cells or products such as circulating cell-free DNA released by tumors. These ‘liquid biopsies’ are being explored in clinical trials for early cancer detection, prediction of recurrent disease, and assessment of therapeutic resistance mechanisms.

Circulating tumor DNA (ctDNA) offers minimally invasive means to repeatedly interrogate tumor genomes, providing opportunities to monitor clonal dynamics induced by metastasis and therapeutic selective pressures. In metastatic cancers, ctDNA profiling allows for simultaneous analysis of both local and distant sites of recurrence. Despite the promise of ctDNA sampling, its utility in real-time genetic monitoring remains largely unexplored.

Spinal lipomas not associated with dysraphism are rare and have an unknown natural history. In this report, we describe two cases; they showed recurrence during long-term follow-up, which makes us doubt a benign malformation etiology.

Cancer antigen 15-3 is a protein that clinicians commonly measure to monitor outcomes and response to treatment in patients with breast cancer. However, cancer antigen 15-3 can also be elevated in other, benign and malignant conditions.

As clinical signs and symptoms of nasopharyngeal carcinoma (NPC) are often nonspecific, it is difficult to detect in the early stage, leading to high risk of relapse or recurrent metastasis. Plasma cell-free DNA of Epstein-Barr virus (cf-EBV DNA) is markedly associated with the development of undifferentiated NPC, and its level prior and subsequent to treatment is reliable for the screening, diagnosis, monitoring and prognosis of NPC.

We present a case of a patient with recurrent syncope of sudden onset. She had a positive passive head-up tilt test for a mixed type of neurocardiogenic syncope. Additionally, she developed a narrow complex tachycardia on telemetry monitoring. Electrophysiology study revealed an intra-Hisian delay which upon provocation with programmed electrical stimulation, developed into a complete intraHisian atrioventricular block.

This case report describes two rare cases of Coats disease in nonjuvenile patients with preserved vision. Coats disease in adolescence and adulthood may present with good vision. In mild and moderate cases of Coats disease, laser photocoagulation monotherapy may help preserve vision. Nevertheless, as recurrences and complications may still occur later in life, lifelong monitoring is recommended.

Bavaria, a large federal state in Germany, has been declared free from infections with Bovine Alphaherpesvirus 1 (BoHV-1) in 2011. To maintain this status the cattle population is monitored for antibodies against BoHV-1 regularly. Several years ago, infrequent but recurrent problems in this sero-surveillance were statistically put into correlation with the presence of antibodies against Bovine Alphaherpesvirus 2 (BoHV-2).

The accurate prediction of post-hepatectomy early recurrence (PHER) of hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) is vital in determining postoperative adjuvant treatment and monitoring. This study aimed to develop and validate an artificial neural network (ANN) model to predict PHER in HCC patients without macroscopic vascular invasion.

Serum tumor markers including AFU, AFP, CEA, CA199, CA125 and CA724, are of great importance in the diagnosis, prognostic prediction and recurrence monitoring of gastrointestinal malignancies. However, their significance in gastric cancer (GC) patients with neoadjuvant therapy (NCT) is still uncertain.

The assessment of circulating tumor cells (CTCs) has been shown to enable monitoring of treatment response and early detection of metastatic breast cancer (MBC) recurrence. The aim of this study was to compare a well-established CTC detection method based on immunomagnetic isolation with a new, filtration-based platform.
