Viet Nam’s coastline faces many natural and human-induced threats, such as erosion, floods, sea-level changes, pollution and saltwater intrusion. Low lying deltas, such as the Mekong Delta and the Red River Delta of Viet Nam are frequently subjected to such threats. The present study investigated the degradation of mangrove forests and changes in shoreline along the coast of Ben Tre.

Herein, 20 ichnospecies belonging to 8 ichnogenera were identified in bivalves, gastropods, and corals (n = 701) from the Late Pleistocene coral reef along the Red Sea coast, northwest Saudi Arabia. The trace fossils were produced by clionid sponges (47.39%), endolithic bivalves (42.17%), polychaete annelids (5.42%), vermetid gastropods (3.81%), and acrothoracican barnacles (1.21%). The habitat conditions changed gradually, from well-oxygenated, shallow, high-energy back-reef and reef crest bioeroding polychaetes and bivalves, to deep, low-energy reef slope dominated by boring sponges.

The morpho-anatomical features of Zygophyllum album L.F. and Nitraria retusa growing on the El sokhna region, adjacent western coast of Red sea, Egypt, which contribute for their adaptation to the stressful habitat conditions were studied. An analysis of the morphological and anatomical characters of their leaves, stems and roots revealed representative of the halo-xerophilic characters among these plants.

Karanja estuary, an important estuarine ecosystem located adjoining to the Jawaharlal Nehru Port (largest container handling Seaport in India), Raigad district of Maharashtra. The North West coast of India is famous for the dol nets fishery. Dol nets (a kind of bag net) are operated in coastal seas having strong tidal currents and amplitude with its mouth opening always facing towards the direction of the tide.

The study, estimated to contribute to generate information to elucidate morphometrics and length-weight relationship and the relative growth of some body parts of the mud crab Scylla serrata. A total of 100 crabs were collected, from January 2018 to January 2019, from Sudanese Red Sea coast of the commercial catch land at Port Sudan. Each specimen was sexed and measured.

The coastal sabkha in Ras Gemsa, Red Sea coast with its colonizing microbial mats and biofilms was investigated. The sabkha sediments consist mainly of terrigenous siliciclastic material accompanied by the development of evaporites. Halite serves as a good conduit for light and reduces the effect of intensive harmful solar radiation, which allows microbial mats to survive and flourish.

This study describes the subsurface sedimentary facies of a modern Red Sea coastal plain at the mouth of Wadi Al-Hamd, northern Saudi Arabia, in an attempt to infer the influence of aridity and limited tidal range on facies characteristics. The study provides criteria to delineate the fluviomarine transition in a setting where tidal signatures and other marine influences are weak.

A very significant quantity of dolomites and dolomitic limestones of variable origins occurs in the syn-rift Neogene carbonate platforms of the NW Red Sea coast and the Gulf of Suez. These are more common in the Um Diheisi Member of the Ranga Formation (early Miocene), the Um Mahara Formation (middle Miocene), the Um Gheig Formation (late Miocene), and the Dashet El Dabaa Member of the Shagra Formation (Pliocene).

To determine the occurrence of dominant phytoplanktonic species causing red tides along the eastern Black Sea (Trabzon) coast of Turkey, multiple samples were collected periodically between 1991 and 2001. Red tide events were observed only during the periods between February and July. Six phytoplanktonic species causing 5 red tide events detected were Diplopsalis lenticula, Euglena acusformis, Eutreptia lanowii, Pyramimonas orientalis, Scrippsiella trochoidea, and Gymnodinium sanguineum.

This study focuses on the use of remotely sensed data for monitoring coastline changes in the Red River Delta during the 1998 to 2008 period. For the satellite image data processing, the shoreline was defined as the mean sea level on the muddy coast where the tide is the dominant dynamic factor and as the mean high sea level on the sandy coast where the ocean waves are the dominant dynamic factor.

The deposition in Day estuary tends to increase strongly due to abundant sources of sediment from the Red River system and the estuary is located in a concave coast where strong impacts of wave are eliminated. In this study, MIKE model developed by Danish Hydraulic Institute is employed to simulate, evaluate and forecast hydrodynamic regime as well as erosion, sedimentation and shoreline change processes in Day river mouth located in Ninh Binh.
