Regarding firm characteristics

The purpose of this paper is to study the characteristics of competitiveness in firms’ sectors of the Greek manufacturing industry, based on firm level accounting and qualitative data attempting to identify key issues regarding Greek SMEs. An unbalanced data set of 407 Greek manufacturing SMEs is implemented, covering the period of 2003-2011 with the use of a multivariate regression model (EGLS) with explanatory variables characterizing firms’ operational activity.

This paper takes a closer look at the concept of innovation based on information and communication technologies (ICT) regarding the specificities of small and medium enterprises. The starting point of this article is the general definition of innovation understood commonly in the context of entrepreneurship. The characteristics of innovative process will be introduced in selected aspects of management. This paper investigates the determinants of UK corporate cash holdings during the period 1980-2012. The global and long term phenomenon of corporate cash pilling has drawn significant attention from researchers. Similarly, this study aims at shedding light on the empirical relationship between cash holding and specific firm characteristics. The empirical findings suggest that cash holdings are positively related to investment opportunity, as R&D and market to book ratio.

Using data from a survey of small and medium scale manufacturing enterprises (SMEs) in Vietnam, this study investigates the impact of firm and owner characteristics on firm growth. The results reveal that firm size has a negative effect on firm growth, suggesting the invalidity of Gibrat’s Law.
