  • Genotype-phenotype association has been one of the long-standing problems in bioinformatics. Identifying both the marginal and epistatic effects among genetic markers, such as Single Nucleotide Polymorphisms (SNPs), has been extensively integrated in Genome-Wide Association Studies (GWAS) to help derive “causal” genetic risk factors and their interactions, which play critical roles in life and disease systems.

  • Chlorophyll-a (Chl-a) has been used extensively as an essential indicator of trophic state in the assessment and monitoring of surface water quality environments. The environmental factors can influence Chl-a concentrations; thus, to determine the relationship between Chl-a concentration and factors. The research was carried out in dry season (March 2016) and wet season (September 2016) in Tri An reservoir, Dong Nai Province, Vietnam and performed by Spearman's correlation analysis and Linear regression analysis.

  • After the extensive implementation of genomic selection (GS), the choice of the statistical model and data used to estimate variance components (VCs) remains unclear. A primary concern is that VCs estimated from a traditional pedigree-based animal model (P-AM) will be biased due to ignoring the impact of GS.

  • This study is an extension of a novel technique to determine interwell connectivity in a reservoir based on fluctuations of bottom hole pressure of both injectors and producers in a waterflood system. The technique uses a constrained multivariate linear regression analysis to obtain information about permeability trends, channels, and barriers. Some of the advantages of this new technique are simplified one-step calculation of interwell connectivity coefficients, small number of data points and flexible testing plan.

  • Different high-dimensional regression methodologies exist for the selection of variables to predict a continuous variable. To improve the variable selection in case clustered observations are present in the training data, an extension towards mixed-effects modeling (MM) is requested, but may not always be straightforward to implement.

  • B-cell epitopes have been studied extensively due to their immunological applications, such as peptide-based vaccine development, antibody production, and disease diagnosis and therapy. Despite several decades of research, the accurate prediction of linear B-cell epitopes has remained a challenging task.

  • To address high-dimensional genomic data, most of the proposed prediction methods make use of genomic data alone without considering clinical data, which are often available and known to have predictive value. Recent studies suggest that combining clinical and genomic information may improve predictions.

  • Analysis of high-throughput multi-’omics interactions across the hierarchy of expression has wide interest in making inferences with regard to biological function and biomarker discovery. Expression levels across different scales are determined by robust synthesis, regulation and degradation processes, and hence transcript (mRNA) measurements made by microarray/RNA-Seq only show modest correlation with corresponding protein levels.

  • Agriculture is said to be a gamble with the vagaries of Monsoon. Most of the farmers face a lot of risky and uncertain situation in which they have to make decisions. Traditionally agricultural information is provided by state development departments, ICAR institutions, commodity boards and NGOs. The recent trend is private extension for high value crops. Farmer needs authentic information to make agriculture a viable and profitable venture. In this context, a study was planned to know the willingness of farmers to pay for better agricultural information.

  • Total factor productivity indicates the contribution of noninputs to the growth of agricultural productivity. In this study, the estimation of total factor productivity of millets in Karnataka and returns to investment in research in Karnataka is attempted. For the study, the time series data on the cost of cultivation was collected from farm management reports, published by Directorate of Agriculture, Government of Karnataka. The Tornqvist Theil index of TFP is used for measuring TFP growth. Regression analysis was employed to identify sources of TFP growth.
