Ebook "Climate change modelling, planning and policy for agriculture" is to highlight some salient work reported in India at the international conference organized by the Indian Council for Agricultural Research and the National Council for Climate Change, Sustainable Development and Public Leadership. While a large number of papers on several themes were presented at the conference, the present initiative is to focus on papers related to modeling of parameters relevant for interpretation of climate change impacts on crops.

Maintaining and managing trees with different ecological plasticity under climate conditions aggravated by short-term variability are major challenges for foresters. Our aims were to investigate species-specific ecophysiological responses of canopy trees in a mixed Turkey oak forest during their early-phase regeneration. We measured plant carbon and water exchange with portable IRGA equipment under natural field conditions (canopy gap) and in a climate-controlled (standardized) environment.

Local breeds retained unique genetic variability important for adaptive potential especially in light of challenges related to climate change. Our first objective was to perform, for the first time, a genome-wide diversity characterization using Illumina GoatSNP50 BeadChip of autochthonous Drežnica goat breed from Slovenia, and five and one local breeds from neighboring Austria and Italy, respectively.

Occurrence and severity of Early blight of potato observed that the disease occured every year at Kanpur and Faizabad district of Utter Pradesh. It has observed that the disease was first appeared during 2–3 rd weeks of December at Kanpur and 3rd weeks of December to 1 st weeks of January at Faizabad district of Uttar Pradesh at the maximum temperature range 17–230C, minimum temperature 1.8–7.80C, relative humidity 46–93%, and 0–7.2 sun shine hours. The maximum severity with 28.

A study was conducted at tea growing regions of Assam to see the effect of climatic parameter on production of tea. Average production of tea started to diminish from 1992 and the trend had continued upto 2009. However, after 2010 the average production of tea started to increase. Results of correlation and regression analysis showed that except ‘number of rainy days’ other four variables (Temperature Range, Relative Humidity Range, Rainfall and Bright Sun Shine hours) are found to be significant.

The chickpea crop is highly sensitive to temperature and other climate condition. Genotype × environment interaction (G x E) is a major constraint to identify single superior genotype for a number of variable environments. Present study was undertaken for estimation of the impact of G x E interaction on seed yield of chickpea and to identify relatively stable genotypes across environments using 40 chickpea genotypes. Data were collected on twelve yield related traits.

Coconut has a prolonged reproductive phase of 44 months from the initiation of the inflorescence primordium to full maturity of the nuts. Weather affects all stages of the long development cycle and thus there is likely to be extended predictability based on climate variability. An attempt is being made to relate the coconut sample survey data of Coconut Development Board with climate data of Chanrayapatna taluk of Hassan district. Mean nut yield per palm, per year in the Chanrayapatna taluk was 83.3. Among the villages, Baldare recorded significantly lower nut yield (78.

Vegetables play important role in supply of vitamins minerals and fibers. Micronutrient demonstrations conducted by KVK, Koppal emphasized on sustainable production of vegetables with higher yield which ultimately improves the economy and better livelihood of the vegetable grower. The present demonstrations were carried out in 9 different vegetables of Solanaceous, cruciferous and cucurbitaceous-s family during 2016-17, 2017- 18 and 2018-19 respectively. The yield related parameters like number of fruits/plant (No.

Assessment of impact of temperature and CO2 on growth and yield of rice crop using DSSAT model has been made to assess the impact of these two parameters on the productivity of rice crop at south Gujarat region. For this purpose CERES-Rice model v4.6.1 was used in which the experimental result of rice during kharif, 2016 used as baseline to assess the rice yield under different climatic variability. Crop production is inherently to variability in climate.

Remote sensing has several advantages in the field of agronomical research purpose. The assessment of agricultural crop canopies has provided valuable insights in the agronomic parameters. Remote sensing play a significant role in crop classification, crop monitoring and yield assessment. The use of remote sensing is necessary in the field of agronomical research purpose because they are highly vulnerable to variation in soil, climate and other physico- chemical changes.

Maize is an economically important crop and also a major shareholder in the global food bowl. The queen of cereals is widely cultivated across varied topography. Climate change and its related water stress are on the increase, reducing the yield potential of maize. The experiment with PEG-6000 was carried out in a completely randomized block design with two replications for twenty maize hybrids. The concentrations of PEG-6000 taken for study were 0%, 10% and 20%.

Results of this study show that the level of CC impacts on the residential areas is rather high, with an average LVI of 0.056. In addition, the results of AHP shown that the impact levels on the study fields are determined to follow a decreasing order as: first level group including energy, water supply and drainage, transport, and public health (with total score 0.22).
